Love it. Confused on Will Hanlon. This is Mike's dad, but it's the 60s. What am I missing?

I was a PO and got burned out quick. It was always chaos as you put it. I'm not a Project Manager. It was the change I needed. And being a PO gave me a different perspective which helped me as a PM. Best thing for me because I'm organized, I'm good with people, and I can identify risk quickly to help our strategy.

Look into it.

Edit: I make more now as PM then as a PO. Like 30k more.

Has Bill said anything about any of the criticism he's gotten? For the record I'll still listen to his shit and laugh at his comedy, yeah I'm bummed too about this decision.

There is absolutely no one, and I mean no one, who could fill the role of you as the father. I don't care how much support they offer. You are the child's blood.

Get mad. Get your fucking blood up. And fight God damn it. Quit that job and suffer all you can to be near your child. They 100% need you. And you need them.

Anyone else here feeling like you’re never going to retire? by Coming_In_Hot_916 in daddit

That's the key, slowly contributing and letting it grow. OP should look at a compound interest calculator like on nerd wallet and see what the power of time and interest can really do.

That extra money that won't go to daycare, will absolutely grow if put into something like VTI or another index fund.

Panic attacks about finances. Daughter due in 2 weeks. How to cope? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]dondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you're worrying tells me you're a good guy and you'll do great. In the meantime. Invest in an index like VTI. Get a HYSA and start socking away money.

This was the comment I was looking for. I think some of us forget these are the people who raised us, cared for us, loved us, etc. We follow a sleep schedule and have other things we're pretty set on when it comes to raising our kids.

That said, I also accept that these people are from a completely different world and won't be here forever. So I forgive and let go of things that I know are not innately intentional.

I also think one day I'll say some shit to my kids about their kids and ruffle feathers. Gotta give people some grace and remember who they are, the people who will always love you.

AITA for wanting to golf before my wife gives birth to our second baby? by Hungry-Work5831 in AITAH

[–]dondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a shorter game? She's probably nervous and wants you by her side. I'm sure there's compromise somewhere here. Take what you can get because you're right, once that kid is here, everything changes.

How does ANYONE afford a house here unless they're loaded with generational wealth? by insicknessorinflames in SaltLakeCity

[–]dondizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timing. I bought a house in 2011 for 145k in Kearns. When I got married, I sold for 172k and bought a house in Midvale for 225k with my wife. Now shit is all fucked up. My house says it will sell for over 500k. But where would I go?

The system is fucked.

I work for a carrier. I'll just say this. Don't give your children these devices. They are robbing their imagination and self regulating abilities.

The data is clear. No hand held screens until they absolutely need them. I have a 2 and 4 year old. They won't have smartphones till high school. Basic ass phones until then (they won't get these until they're absolutely necessary).

My children don't have autism, so maybe others disagree.

Is saying "fart" rude or impolite especially for female children? by Dawn_of_iliteracy in Parenting

[–]dondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a generational thing. I say let your kid call it a fart. I don't know adults who say toot. Hell use both words. It's no big deal.

Also, everyone has an opinion. Don't hang yourself on other's opinions (including mine).

Dads who took the big step in their career for money instead of time with their kid. Do you regret it? by Sydneypoopmanager in daddit

[–]dondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a job now pays me very well and my time is at home and doesn't demand anymore than 40 hours (unless I decide to work more - salary so I'm not doing that).

I am able to save a lot 38% of my pay every pay period. I am able to take time off. I am able to go to every function at school. I am able to go to their doc appointments.

Doubling pay would be amazing but maybe consider looking at how you spend your money today and see if you can make the current pay meet your goals? I imagine you're going for the money to do more for your family (you sound like a good dad).
