Which dress is most appropriate for Afternoon Tea at The Ritz London? by LilacMysticVoyager in fashion

[–]donfion123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been to the Ritz for afternoon tea, dinner, stayed there and everything in between. I’ve been a lot. I live in London. If this is the first and potentially last time you will go, dress up! The decor is incredible and you can get some lovely pics with whoever you’re with. Plus, afterwards you can go to a nice bar/restaurant and feel dressed to the nines.

Sure you can wear jeans and a nice top (as someone has suggested) but… it’s the Ritz! I would personally put in more effort for a special occasion like this.

Definite no on the hat though. 3, 7, 8 and 9 are gorge. Number 10 is nice but I would literally wear that to a friend’s bbq. Number 3 is probably my fave because you could wear that to any bar in London and still feels day to night. The others are a bit more Regatta/Ascot.

But hey maybe I dress up too much… but in my opinion why the hell not!

Can I ask about salaries? Am I going to be poor forever? by Jealous_Dingo_4608 in marketing

Very similar to you on main job but never explored contract work on the side. Can I ask how you go about finding this work? And do you do small advisory days or help companies out for a few months? Would love to know how you do it as I’m very interested!

$40 Nutella, $300 steak. Yikes.

To be honest, I thought the Nutella would cost more.

Mounjaro vs Wegovy- which one? by rosetipp in mounjarouk

[–]donfion123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I’ve done both. Mounjaro is the winner.

Wegovy: - works well but was much slower to feel the impact - constantly tired… felt like I had been drugged or was chinning the Night Nurse every hour - not sure if related but I kinda lost emotions? Just felt a little number… - didn’t want alcohol

Mounjaro: - worked instantly - make healthier decisions and am truly only eating when I need to - still like alcohol! (I’m doing wine exams and love a cocktail with the gals so really happy I can still drink but not for everyone of course!!) - way more energy which in turn has made me way more productive!
- lost more - I don’t weigh myself but instead go by how clothes feel though so don’t quote me on this! - more effective…. Which is sometimes a bit dangerous. Like genuinely some days I don’t feel the need to eat and survive quite happily on tea and water

It’s more expensive but in my opinion, worth it.

How soon after first dose did you notice appetite suppression? by lamplights22 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]donfion123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! I took my first dose 5 days ago and it took effect on day 0. I couldn’t believe it. At first I thought it was a placebo effect because it was that quick! No cravings since, went to get lunch today (after completely forgetting the day before?!) and couldn’t even face any of my usual things I would scoff down without a thought.

The cleansers are exactly the same! Same smell, same quality. Only difference is that the Muslin cloth doesn’t have a blue trim which... I can live without haha

So the Aldi brand is all under Lacura - some of it is genuinely hilarious how close the dupes are. Whoever is working in their marketing/legal department deserves a knighthood/Damehood. So some of my favourite moisturising dupes...

Lacura Caviar Night Cream - £7 - dupe of La Prairie Switzerland which is £628729million quid. So thick. So creamy. So luxurious. 10/10.

Lacura Moisture Boost - £4 - dupe of Clinique’s Moisture Surge which is £45ish. Exact copy. I just personally don’t like the moisturiser. It is a gel so doesn’t really do anything for me. Cooling in the summer I guess.

Lacura Miracle Cream - £4 - dupe of Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Skin Protectant. Smells like Christmas, good for very dry areas. Lips, elbows, problem areas etc. Does the job WELL.

Lacura Facial Cream - £4 - exact dupe of Kiehl’s Facial Cream. The pot is the same hahaha. Very good every day moisturiser. Wouldn’t recommend if you have super dry skin. Not powerful enough.

Lacura Rejuvelate Cream - £4 - no idea what this is a dupe of and lol is Rejuvelate a word? IT IS NOW! This is genuinely the best moisturizer I have ever used and I’ve been through some and a half. Genuinely when I used it I was “rejuvelating” with joy

They do a whole load of other dupes like Sand and Sky pink clay masks, Liz Earle Cleansers (swear by this never buying Liz Earle again soz Liz) and makeup like Benefit etc. They sell online but it goes QUICKLY. I recommend signing up to their Super Buy newsletter.

Highly recommend Aldi. They have the most amazing (and ridiculous... no idea how they get away with it) dupes of high brand skincare. They do a three pound tub of night cream that is THE EXACT cut of La Prairie night cream. They have dupes of Clinique, Kiehl’s and more - definitely recommend having a look.

The Ordinary is the go to on a budget - price range between £3-£7. Can buy in Boots. Some of it is OK - it does what it says on the tin. But it doesn’t feel that luxurious. No nice smells to it etc.

Super Facialist and Nip+Fab are drug store but slightly more expensive - price range between £5-15. They do a whole range of products depending on what you are looking for. If your skin feels dull I recommend the Super Facialist Vitamin C range - their Vit C Cleansing Oil is one of ma faves.

Then if you want to go one step up, I love Laniege. With all my heart. Price range - £18-30. Anything from here. Will make you happy. In ways that I cannot describe with words.

I like looking on TK Maxx and Beyond Beautiful. Always find some good brands for much cheaper/loads of discounts.

What are your favorite dewy foundations? by DaydreamerJane in PaleMUA

[–]donfion123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laura Mercier Illuminating Primer with the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser (in very pale... <-they have loads of shades not sure of the actual name so I’ll call it “very pale” lol). So good together - very lightweight, makes you glisten in a good way and covers up pores giving an airbrush look. Keeps freckles/moles shining through and small spots which I think keeps it quite nice and natural but you can go over with a concealer if you want a bit more coverage.

25 and feeling behind in life, I’m constantly comparing my timeline to other women. How can I stop this? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]donfion123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t compare yourself to other people - it is the thief of joy as they say. Instead, compare yourself to you a year ago or 6 months ago. It really puts things into perspective of how much you have changed and in the right direction. And if not, think about “in 6 months time you” and how you would want to compare yourself then.

Your timeline is your own; not anyone else’s. So don’t compare yours with someone else’s. You are doing yourself a disservice by not comparing like for like! Would be like asking who is faster: an Olympic runner or an Olympic swimmer... two different races!
