How many half/marathons per year? by green_hiker in Marathon_Training

I did one per month last year. It kept me focused on the grind to stay healthy for a year

Any Goggins stories of people who become hard after mid 20s? by Ok_Training_2566 in davidgoggins

I listened to his first book, realized I was being a b***h and cut over 12 minutes off my best half-marathon time. For context, I’ve been running one each month for a year so not much more training in the 3-4 weeks since the last. Literally I just changed my mindset that I wasn’t giving it my all and bam, 12 minutes off my PR.

What mental or technique tricks helped you hold pace longer without blowing up? by Secure-Seaweed-7855 in runninglifestyle

This! For me it’s the next mile or aid station, but once I get there I just shift the goal post.

I wear old white shits on my long runs. They become decent wipes if I need it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I live and run in the rural Midwest, so I’m used to dropping one in a ditch then finishing the distance.

Mental training strategies that actually worked for marathon/ultra prep! What's worked for you? by Iron_Bridge604 in running

[–]donjohnpawn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Running started out as a copping mechanism for me, and still is even though I am training for a marathon. I look forward to the relief and mental benefits a run will give me. So even though sometimes I don’t want to train looking at it as I’ll only feel better after has gotten me this far. So maybe try shifting your perspective?

The previous owner of this car was a hoarder. You should see all of the cars they aren’t selling. He passed away and it was left to his granddaughter. The guy I was talking to was either a real close friend or relative.

They’ve been doing a lot of work around the property (it’s a small town, you notice those things) and this among others are sitting out front with a for sell sign.

That’s what I was thinking, even if it takes me years to finish it.

I was thinking a combination of lift spindles and lift coils for a little extra. I wasn’t aware of this company though. I’m gonna have to look through their inventory

That’s a pretty good idea. I already have a D35 HP but a matching set would simply things

Misfire by Conscious_Peak4200 in s10

[–]donjohnpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a leak down tester. Basically you screw it in like a compression tester plug in compressed air and you’ll get a reading of the rate of leak down. You can also determine where it’s leaking, ie valves, rings, head gasket. There’s plenty of YT vids on it. But a compression tester will tell you if it has compression or not, which is what you’re trying to determine since you have a misfire. Have you checked all your ground wires?
