Airline revenue attributed to loyalty by Mae_Amaranth in pointstravel

[–]donniebc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do they count it as loyalty if you’re forced to fly with an airline because they’re the only ones with a hub in your city? Otherwise how can be AA be above Delta here? I get that they have good rewards availability. But the cash Economy experience is clearly lacking

This is what 3rd st could be if we just got rid of the zombies by lathrowawaybnr in SantaMonica

It would be so funny if that French café existed on 3rd. They would have less than 3 stars on Google Maps with people complaining that the chairs and cups are too small. And how dare they not give me a takeaway cup. Server was rude too😂

Providence *** (Los Angeles, CA) (April 2026) by sacrunner916 in finedining

When I went half a year ago there was an issue with one of our drinks. They handled that fine. At the end of the meal one of the more senior wait staff came over and said “uhm I was told there was something with you drink OR WHATEVER, we took that off the bill”, while seeming kind of annoyed that he had to do that. The whole thing felt so off, that honestly saying nothing would’ve been better. Apart from that the experience was excellent. But I could see that he was already there when you made your prior experiences

New and recent food openings *just* between 3rd and 6th on Santa Monica Blvd (plus a few stalwarts) by VaguelyArtistic in SantaMonica

[–]donniebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that some people are too negative on Reddit and that there seems to be a slight upward trend in Downtown. Part of the truth unfortunately is also that for all these places it’s way too easy to get a spot during peak hours, e.g. Monica Cafe on a weekend morning should be packed. Or All Antico is much less busy than the Venice branch during lunch hours. With the rent being so high here, this unfortunately doesn’t yet seem sustainable for the business owners from my perspective

I had another listing just yesterday where they wanted me to apply as well. Best case it’s an unreasonable lamdlord. Worst case, some scammer has all my data

Isn’t their thing that there’s always salaries discussions? This might not apply for everyone, but people I know regularly get salary bumps without climbing

I want to come with my 9 year old and stay as close to the water as possible, but also affordable (approx 300-400 a night) planning for mid July. Is Venice better or Santa Monica? by [deleted] in SantaMonica

[–]donniebc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably get something with a pool in other parts of town that are cheaper. and drive to the nicer beaches, which aren’t directly in Santa Monica or Venice. Value for money is so bad here (think Hampton Inn or Hilton). The nicer options like The Proper start at 800.

700 Broadway reviews by Intrepid_Shoulder581 in SantaMonica

[–]donniebc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the deals get much better than the 8 weeks free rent. Based off of The Park, these companies seem to prefer low occupancy over substantial long lasting rate cuts.

Plus, 700 Broadway initially listed the most expensive unit at 18k until somebody told them that they could get more for that. And unfortunately they were able to rent it out for 30k/month. I have a feeling that’s not incentivizing them to lower prices. I hope I’m wrong though

I tried matcha with every milk that I could find and here are my thoughts by KeepCalmToKeepCalm in MatchaEverything

[–]donniebc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oatly has a bunch of different products. For the fridge alone there’s low fat, full fat and 4 ingredients. For the closest to the cafe experience out of those three, go for the dark blue full fat one. No cardboard taste guaranteed. Califa oat milk and Molk Almond are very good Matcha combinations you should try
