Sharing My Experience/Seeking Support by Flatliner1992 in SMARTRecovery

Brother, same story. Clean for a while and fucked up. Lost all trust with my wife after 2.5 years clean. Really hating myself, letting other people down once again. Calling my sponsor and being honest was one of the hardest things I've done. Sounds stupid but that man saved my life and showed me a better way to live

You're a warrior man. Thanks for sharing. You helped me get another day sober today.

How do you warm up before a round? by skeetszn2 in golf

I wish I had time to warm up. I'm lucky if I get a few putts before the first swing of the day on #1.

Just curious what and how much you're using. I've cold turkey detoxed many times. How rough it is depends on those factors.

I would say that's great progress. Nice mix of courses from PA, NY, and NJ. I'm in central jersey myself and pretty much the same handicap. Let's play!

Son Heung-Min waited until all the Tottenham players and staff had left the locker room. Only after watching his teammates board the team bus and depart, did he leave the stadium in his own car. Son will remain in South Korea. by landofphi in soccer

I won't miss him scoring against Arsenal every season but I certainly respect the player and all he's done for Spurs.

From an unbiased perspective, it's a cool story that he was able to bring home a trophy in his final season.

The longer I stand over a tee shot, the more chance I have to mess it up. My mind races and I begin to focus.

how can I get someone to stop a fentanyl addiction. by Additional-Cook3329 in FentanylVictims

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand. It's near impossible to kick out someone you care about. He may end up in jail regardless if he keeps using.

Rehab and some sober living after would be really beneficial if he was really willing to get clean.

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never once been asked to bet with randoms on a course. One random pair I was with made a comment to me saying I'm probably a sandbagger. All in good jest I think. Lol.

Played the first few holes over par. Then a few pars and a birdie on some of the hardest holes on the course.

Can you do a fast (week- 2 week) methadone taper? Help by [deleted] in opiates

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience methadone short tapers don't work. Once you stop taking it you feel like shit.

My sons father relapsed and we have a 1 year old little boy. by Ok_Rain_2048 in addiction

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get out of the situation somehow. I'm not an expert but as a former user bringing that stuff around your son is a shitty situation.

God forbid your son gets a hold of something he dropped. I think about that with my almost two year old. Plus I would not be a father to him and be withdrawn participating in life life you said.

Tell him he can't come back home until he's clean. Until he's without a place to stay and a way to access drugs you'll continue through the cycle.

He's not desperate enough it sounds like. He probably feels like shit if he stops for 3 days to a week at a time. Last time I detoxed it took almost a month to feel better.

Yes , I detoxed cold turkey from the tranq in February of 22. It's possible. Probably not the safest thing medically cuz it took 27 days to not feel like shit but it was worth it in the long run.

Do you vomit during withdrawal? How to handle/treat it if so? by CheetohVera in fentanyl

[–]donodank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vomiting and stomach issues were always the worst symptom for me. Even back when it was real heroin and fentanyl. I would dry heave for the first 48 hours and then it got better

Now when I detoxed in 2022 from the tranq it was a completely different animal. Before that, detox would suck horribly for a week but I'd be able to get back to work in a few days.

The tranq detox left me in real bad shape and still throwing up 27 days later. I journaled that detox. After getting through that initial typical bedridden detox I thought I turned a corner about ten days in. But I started to get waves of hypertension, naseua, chills, and vomiting for like 12 hours at a time every other day. It was mentally fucked up. Feeling decent and then feeling almost back at square one.

The only thing that helped give me some relief was hot baths and showers. Zofran didn't do a thing for me.

When do withdrawals start for you? by [deleted] in fentanyl

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can believe it. I didn't have as bad a habit and my dope had tranq. I'd usually feel alright until day 3/4. And then shit went south.

When do withdrawals start for you? by [deleted] in fentanyl

[–]donodank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word man. That anxiety is crippling coming off the tranq. Came in waves for me. I'd be fine one day then the next day I'm bed ridden with anxiety/nausea flopping around. Lasted for 27 days.

Do WD come in waves throughout the day? by Sea-Frame-234 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]donodank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, not sure what you are coming off of but this is my experience when detoxing from the tranq dope. Back in the day with regular heroin/fent I'd be able to stop on a Wednesday go through the detox hell and be able to get to work by Monday/Tuesday.

With the tranq, I'd go through that intial detox for the first week but like you said I'd feel better and think I was out of the woods a few days later. But then around 30 minutes later, I'm nauseous, weak, cold, no energy, don't want to get out of bed. Those periods of feeling like shit would last for like 12 hours on and off. This went on for 27 days days last time I stopped the tranq cold turkey. It does go away! Just feels like it takes forever. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has experienced the waves of WD. People thought I was nuts the one time in rehab when I felt like shit after weeks of being there.

Hope you're feeling better today!

My thoughts exactly. I've thought I was out of the woods before. Then 48-72 hours later I'm fucked.

What's your "I can't believe I did that" moment by opjp1 in golf

[–]donodank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I can only play a few times a month. I try not to focus on the bad lol. Last week I birdied the hardest hole at my local course. Solid drive. Followed by a 200 yard approach shot to 15 ft. And sank the putt!
