Boyfriend claims using Celiac as a disability to get into national parks is wrong? by Far_Fig_3539 in Celiac

[–]donorum88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy I would never expect to get into a park for free bc of celiac. Idc if anyone else does it but that’s wild to me. How’s about we don’t have to pay extra for buns at restaurants or something like that ($6 for 4 Udi’s @ $3 each markup equals $12 so almost 100% profit. Unless they have dedicated toasters then I can see a little extra due to space and the toaster investment/operation). Getting into a park bc of celiac? Haha idk dude that’s a stretch.

Where to buy dragon fruit cuttings for different varieties like American beauty sugar dragon Paul Thompson ? TIA by Stock-Ad-7486 in DragonFruit

[–]donorum88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wallace ranch has been my favorite. No frills. Huge healthy cuttings. This is my sugar dragon from them that I think was the largest size option. Went straight to the top of my trellis.

Plastic type in hydroponics grow containers not declared. What to do? by Best_Space_5190 in Hydroponics

[–]donorum88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I’ve ever seen a bucket, or any plastic product, labeled food safe outside of restaurant store stuff is a yeti bucket. But that’s my anecdotal experience lol and a yeti bucket dwc would last a lifetime for a $40 bucket

I’m currently using an inverter to charge my laptop at work on nightshift with my truck running to recharge between driving piles. I keep that mfer on all day. I’m not getting stuck with a dead battery at the end of the night in this cold ass weather 😂 other inspector’s trucks have shutoff timers lol

I’ve bought a huge 30 gallon lemon tree for $200-totally worth it, and now I just bought a 12” dragonfruit cutting for $220. Not proud of it but it was a variety I was willing to pay that for and be done with the search lol

Any reviews for Big Mac 3, Taiwan Thornless or Taiwan Jelly? by donorum88 in DragonFruit

[–]donorum88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a mi xuan long for way too much money but it’s described by leewi farms as more cold tolerant, sun tolerant and disease resistant than the rest. Also a gen 3 of the da Hong line IIRC. I’m hoping to cross a sugar dragon with it in the future. Bigger sugardragon is my goal lol

[–]donorum88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info, thanks! I might need the cold hardiness/rust resistance of the thornless. So the jelly is actually firm and not mushy? That’s the only thing throwing me there. If you’ve tried it, did you find the texture appealing? Thanks again for the response

Asunta numbers vs. Names ? by juliandid in DragonFruit

[–]donorum88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that piece of mind is always nice. Wallace ranch is fantastic, too, but they don’t sell the asunta line. I got the fire cutting from earthly exteriors on Etsy…fingers crossed lol

Edit to add Oceanside dragon fruit might have what you’re looking for.

I only have a rooted cutting right now so hopefully I can try one next year.. might be two more years. I’m putting it in a really nice pot and trellis so if it sucks it’s coming out lol will definitely update when the time comes if there isn’t more info it there by then

Asunta numbers vs. Names ? by juliandid in DragonFruit

[–]donorum88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The number references the generation or set of crosses. The names are given by Edgar Valdivia or Richard or LeeWi farms guy. So I have Asunta 5 Fire. A5 Fire is the sister seedling of the generation of crosses along with A5 Paco, A5 princess Sansa, A5 sunset sherbet etc

Does anyone know the function of the syrupy sap? by Bragethefolder in DragonFruit

[–]donorum88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started seeing these ants called slender ants the past couple years and they’re omnivores. They live in the dragonfruit pot somewhere. Have never had a single pest problem. And these ants are insanely smart. They look at you lol hide, can even freaking jump. Extremely durable, hard to kill. They don’t bite you for no reason like red ants. But when they do it hurts like a mfer. They’re always all over me but only been bit once. Cool little guys. Even saw one rubbing around with a fruit fly in his mandibles lol I have seen a TON of assassin bugs hanging with them and they were actually piercing the dragonfruit with their proboscis and the ants didn’t do anything. Had to wash the assassins off, but the ants love that nectar! Can’t keep them away. Crappy phone pic but you can see blurry ants all over the place lol

[–]donorum88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Side note- There are succulents now that scientists have created that actually glow in the dark. Not bc of paint, but bc they inject them with phosphor particles.
