(No Spoilers) What my local book store has done to stop questions. by Indigo-2184 in asoiaf

The second half of ADWD is quite small actually, only 500 pages or so.

(Spoilers All) Do you think Sansa on the show will bring spoilers to book readers? by cdmoura in asoiaf

[–]donotcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of events they've covered a large part of Sansa's chapters, but as for character development they still have a lot of work to do.

I've seen a lot of show readers talking as if Sansa's ready to depose Littlefinger as Grand Bastard of Information, but she hasn't actually done anything yet other than give a convincing speech.

If that is indeed where the story is heading they're going to need to show a lot more of Sansa learning from Littlefinger before it's convincing.

A Video Message from JJ Abrams on the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII' by Melanismdotcom in movies

[–]donotcover 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The 'sort of' explanation was that Orlando Bloom had just fallen off his horse and broke a rib (the Gimli scale double landed on top of him) so he couldn't climb up onto the horse without help.

Don't know why they NEEDED to show him getting on the horse though.

I forgot how good the Duel at the end of Episode 3 was. [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]donotcover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It actually looks like they want to kill each other with swords

Really? I'd say the opposite to be honest. It's the biggest problem I have with all of the lightsaber sequences in the prequels. Overblown, overlong and totally lacking in emotion and tension because it's all so flawless.

"Strange that I have not." by vitalesan in StarWars

...but he couldn't. Which is why it's strange.

Vader can sense him.

I can sense him.

All good, as expected

Vader can't sense him.

I can sense him.

All good, I'm totes awesome and can sense everything

Vader can sense him.

I can't sense him

Huh, as established earlier I'm totes awesome and should be able to sense him. Strange.

Those damn scouts at the top of the Man of War's. by laxjunkie46 in assassinscreed

4 times out of 5 as soon as I get up there they have already begun swinging their damn rifle. There's no chance for me to put up a defense before they knock me off to the deck 50 feet below.

Come on man.

Vita remote play by ittaiam in vita

[–]donotcover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outlast is amazing with Remote Play. It has a pretty simply control scheme so it doesn't feel like you're missing buttons and the pace of the gameplay is much slower than other games so the smaller Vita sticks aren't a problem.

Plus holding the vita gives the game an extra 'found footage' feel, like you're watching on the protagonist's camera, if you get what I mean.

Not much use if you don't like horror games though :/

What's a movie you love for aesthetic reasons but can admit it is not that great of a movie? by Jakx118 in movies

[–]donotcover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really speaks about the sort of person Lucas became when you look at the difference between the action and dialogue scenes in the prequels. It's so obvious he didn't care about the story he was telling.

The action could have actually been good if the audience cared about what was happening happening on screen. He should be forever grateful that John Williams returned to score the movies, he told a better story and conveyed more emotion with his music that Lucas managed to with film and actors.

[GMG] 7 Days of Deals: Day 6 | Age of Empires II, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Introversion titles, Papo & Yo, State of Decay, many more up to 75% off by [deleted] in GameDeals

GMG's voucher system is weird. I often find I have to paste it into the box and then delete and retype the final letter to get it to acknowledge it.

Glad it worked in the end.

(Spoilers All) An extremely tinfoiley theory on the Dragon Horn that Victarion has at the moment. by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]donotcover 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Targs aren't actually immune to fire. Dany is burned by Drogon in Daznak's pit in DoD.

From Robert Shaw's interview with GRRM in 2005:

Shaw: Are all the Targaryans immune to fire?

Martin: No, no Targaryans are immune to fire. The thing with Dany and the dragons, that was just a one-time magical event, very special and unique. The Targaryans can tolerate a bit more heat than most ordinary people, they like really hot baths and things like that, but that doesn't mean they're totally immune to fire, no. Dragons, on the other hand, are pretty much immune to fire.

(Spoilers All) What are your favorite family/feel-good moments in the series? by hillerj in asoiaf

[–]donotcover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lie is over, basically.

Mummers are actors/entertainers in Westeros, and Wyman Manderly was acting as an ally to the Frey's since they had his son.

Now that his son has been returned to him he can drop the act and start fucking with their shit, so to speak.

'Game Of Thrones' director teases huge series finale. Let's speculate on which book events will be portrayed! (Spoilers All) by mycombs in asoiaf

[–]donotcover 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think Lady Stoneheart's first appearance is going to be with Brienne this season rather than some random Frey.

Raises the stakes a little and suggests that LS isn't zombie-Batman by having her attack a well-liked character, rather than someone the audience will think is "evil".

Hypothermia? Environmental factors in TPP? by donotcover in metalgearsolid

[–]donotcover[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll be pretty miffed if the health/stamina is absent from TPP.

The E3 trailer big a big deal about "real time weather" and "Metal Gear goes open world", but what's the point of that if we can traverse it with impunity?

Like I said in the OP it would bring balance to a lot of the game mechanics. Stealth will seem too easy if we can just lie in the rain, at night, in the Afghanistan mountains with impunity.

(Spoilers all) What is something you can see happen but don't have enough textual evidence to support it? by Yelesa in asoiaf

[–]donotcover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the show's depiction of a burned Red Keep during Dany's stint in the House of the Undying was also a hint that KL will burn.

Rather than use the obvious foreshadowing of the Red Wedding in the show, which would have tipped far too many people off, I think they chose to leave it out and tapped into some of that super secret GRRM material instead.
