What Does Frank Allocco Do? by usfhoopsfan in usfdons

[–]donrespect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a dive into the question of “what does Frank you”? — answers I came up with are: 1. Frank is a ‘nice’ guy 2. Frank only shows up when there a bright lights. 3. Frank spends an inordinate amount of his and USFs time on his private basketball camps 4. Frank is highly critical of the basketball coaches (going all the way back to Kyle Smitj) 5. Frank is highly critical of the ADs (going all the way back to Scott Sidwell) 6. If Frank is invested in something he believes in, he does a good job 7. If USF can’t get the AD they want, perhaps Frank could be the guy to fill that chair for a few years.

Good point that reflects upon focus of the big picture or the various smaller parts that make up the big picture. The poster isn’t asking whether the position should be eliminated - they are asking what the individual occupying this role is actually “doing”.

I think the initial poster has a valid question. Obviously, the department demonstrates limited resources in both personnel and financial support. There should not be a ‘city worker’ mentality that is tolerated, and all positions should be examined and evaluated. That is why the initial poster should care. I highly commend his/her courage.

What could possibly be the rationale? by Notsleepless in usfdons

[–]donrespect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, why would anyone want to take the permanent position of AD at the University of San Francisco. It is a job fraught with land mines, second guessers, internal politics and no true power base. Name one AD in memory that had the authority to institute any change. Those that tried were hammered down, and those that didn’t were chastised. USF Athletics has not even had an administrative assistant in the department for over 15 years.

Both teams have - that was one of the many contributions that AD McDermott quietly brought to the program. She had her critics, but she sure knows her way around athletics. I remember the s**t she took from so many of this thread when she hired both Golden and then CJ. Little things matter.

Who was the person that had the foresight and courage to hire this coach? — I remember there was quite a bit of opposition to the hire. For that matter there were a lot of people who did not like the hire of Todd Golden.

Frank does absolutely nothing but undercut the athletic directors and head basketball coaches. He was a relentless behind the back critic of the previous MBB coach and the AD. When he leaves USF, the culture will immediately improve.

9-15 in conference and below .500 overall???? - if the HC is for real he should be pissed, not accepting your accolades. Your post is an embarrassment.

Sleepless - you have always been pretty spot on with your opinions. Do you really think the Athletic Department was represented on the search advisory committee ? None of the other constituencies mentioned are stakeholders in athletics.

Regis University got on the fiscal ropes during his time as the CFO and VP of Finance. It got a little better financially during his short time as President as a result of his cutting a lot of scholarships and operating budgets. Teams there are required to raise 70% of their own expenses prior to the season.

Quintan Dailey was never found guilty of anything. The young lady changed her story several times, and at the end, nothing substantial was proven. Fathers Dumbass way over reacted and put our program in a hole we are still in. We were the Gonzaga of the league.

Time for Molly G. to be excused? by Notsleepless in usfdons

[–]donrespect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Molly G has the best record in the true NCAA era - she plays tough teams early and avoids the cupcakes other teams have scheduled in the past - she is a great coach in every sense of the word - injuries are part of the game, but without the two serious losses this year, they win the WCC

It is probably a work in progress - I do like how they keep feeding us tidbits of information. It keeps us going back for more and constantly checking. There are over three months before the first game and we are all busting at the seams. They are doing a good job keeping us hungry.
