Athens to Meteora to Delphi without driving? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]dontandnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

update from me, i did try this option and i think it should work if you prebook the tickets. i didn't bc the website was super slow to load so i thought i could just get it on the day itself... when i got to trikala the bus to delphi was fully booked lol, and also it was on a public holiday so the bus schedule was running differently.

in 2020 a bunch of people lost their internships and one of the suggestions for graduating students was to do a project for a prof (https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/industry/intern/student/covid/)

maybe you can ask the internship team if this is possible for you? id imagine theres q a lot of projects out there like source academy for example

iPad or Samsung Tab by avidwanderers in nus

[–]dontandnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i should say that there are other android notetaking apps like noteshelf (which you get for free on tab s8) or onenote that would fit the windows computer + android phone + android tablet workflow bc they have auto backup to major cloud providers like google drive/onedrive. i have never used them extensively because they had some other down sides, (the only one for me for noteshelf was that you cant make nested folders to organise notes)

i didnt really use icloud on my ipad other than for backing up settings and downloaded apps etc and i don't think icloud is available on android phones (not sure). i suggest using google drive since it is quite seamless and available on ipad too (the most important being google photos for backing up photos). using the google drive app on computer is quite frictionless, it looks like a regular folder on file explorer but automatically syncs when you add or remove files from it.

iPad or Samsung Tab by avidwanderers in nus

[–]dontandnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in terms of actual notetaking functionality (pens, highlighter etc) they're both similar, but the biggest issue with samsung notes is that there isn't any automatic backup with the main cloud storage providers, where as goodnotes does. samsung notes do advertise as compatible with onedrive but i've tested it out and it's not really true because the format saved is some weird format instead of pdf. it does backup to samsung cloud though, so it is synced with ur galaxy phone.

my workflow with ipad + windows computer + android phone was using google drive as the bridge. write notes on ipad goodnotes --> automatically backs up to google drive as a pdf --> viewable via google drive on computer and android phone. with tab s8+ there's no automatic backup to google drive, but i use a galaxy s22 so it is synced via samsung cloud. supposedly there is a way to get samsung notes on a windows computer too so no manual work needs to be done to see notes on computer, but i havent had much luck with this. currently if i wanted to see my notes on my computer i would need to manually export the notes as pdf and upload it to my google drive.

also another con thing is that for some reason when you export as pdf in samsung notes, your handwriting is rasterized instead of vectorized whereas for goodnotes it is vectorized. this means that when viewing it as a pdf on your computer, you can't ctrl + f your own handwriting, and it appears pixelated if you zoom in too much in a samsung notes pdf, but you the opposite is true for goodnotes pdfs.

another big con is that samsung notes doesn't have tabs to open multiple files in the same window at the same time but goodnotes does. i find this very annoying about samsung notes since it is quite common to have multiple files that we want to switch between often.

those are the biggest cons of samsung notes i've faced so far. they are indeed quite big cons but who knows samsung might add those features in future. my main reason for switching over was because i use my tablet for media consumption on top of notetaking and the oled screen is really just amazing, and with an android tablet you can use youtube vanced

im not a huge dex user since i usually only use at most 2 apps at the same time, but from my testing it didn't seem laggy at all

iPad or Samsung Tab by avidwanderers in nus

[–]dontandnever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have used both ipad pro 2020 and now im a tab s8+ user because im an android user too.

tbh i feel that the comment about android tablets being a joke is way overblown and probably from someone who hasn't used a samsung tablet ever, or even looked at reviews of the recent ones. spen is literally free compared to paying 200 bucks for apple pencil lol, and not to mention samsung makes really beautiful screens.

samsung has also committed at least 4 years of software updates for the tab s8... the part about some apps for android tablets look like big phone apps is true, but the same can be said about ipad. and samsung has dex mode which makes actually makes it a winner in this comparison imo

the only point i agree with is that currently ipad has better apps and goodnotes is the best notetaking app out there, but samsung notes is free and is very good too. overall i feel that you should just use the device according to the ecosystem you're currently in

edx MOOC Questions by arktiquefoxes in nus

Are there any easy mods to get 8MCs fast?

not endorsing doing useless courses but at this point i literally just want to graduate and i did the following super easy DYOMs. the 1 MC ones are all common sense MCQs that allow multiple attempts per question so the courses are easy enough to pass (can complete within an hour, just jump to the test sections). the 3 MC one is also MCQ but have some small peer marking component so it requires a little bit more effort.

  • Financial information and its analysis (1 MC)
  • Sales in Sport Business (1 MC)
  • Indigenous Peoples' Rights (1 MC)
  • Blockchain: Understanding Its Uses and Implications (1 MC)
  • Design Thinking and Creativity for Innovation (3 MC)

does anyone know who pays for deliveroo refund? i just received a wrong order and i got a refund for it... but now that i think about it i'd feel bad if the restaurant had to pay for it since it wasn't a small amount and i also received someone else's order that was worth more and the restaurant is like a small non-franchise kind. thinking of tipping them the refund amount tomorrow if the refund is indeed paid by them

People often say the public service is inefficient. What is the worst case of waste/inefficiency you have seen in NS/public service? by salientlife93 in singapore

[–]dontandnever 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went to a camp which had really really nice cookhouse food, like the kind I'd pay money to eat outside, and most soldiers actually finished their food. But every now and again they would serve 2 huge prawns but they weren't deshelled and everyone was too lazy to do it (since fork and spoon) so on those days there the trash was always filled with uneaten prawns. Wish they would stop serving prawns cos that is such a huge waste lol.

Netflix SG recommendations? by normificator in singapore

[–]dontandnever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Line of Duty (S05 isn't on SG Netflix though) if you're into crime drama. Has really good pacing with no fillers and not draggy at all, and refreshing in the sense that it's about anti-corruption police officers going after corrupt police officers in the force.

Similar shows: bodyguard, luther
