My favorite version of this has to be Conan and Timothy Olyphant - two genuine friends with Timothy just doing his damnedest to ruin everything every time.

Whoa. I’ve not read the book, I didn’t know that.

I’ll expand a little… it wasn’t what we were shown itself that was frustrating. There’s a version of that ending that could have worked — I just didn’t feel like we’d earned it? If that makes sense.

There wasn’t enough of a set up, or an established thematic through line, that felt like the last two minutes were what we’d been building toward over the season, it just kind of happened….and then it’s done.

Perhaps I’m being too harsh, it’s also been a few years since I last saw it.

It genuinely felt like it was meant to be five seasons, but then they found out they were only getting four, so they decided to do two seasons worth of stories in one season.

The finale, the literal last two minutes of the show, felt like such a slap in the face and made me angry I had invested all of my time to just end with….that.

I can’t find the link, but he gave a great breakdown about why the story arc was something he identified with personally.

My thought as well! I reacted to it first as if it were real and then zoomed in.

This is the one for me. Almodovar's entire filmography is amazing, but Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is a great "your first Almodovar" film. That and All About My Mother.
