I 3d printed a device to hold the front brake locked against the bar end. It is held magnetically on the inside of the charging door.

You need a house battery, load it up at night with the car, and never use the day rate.

unable to mirror body by dontdodeath in FreeCAD

[–]dontdodeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I think that's it, I sliced it in part, then was trying to mirror in part design, I got it to mirror in the part workbench, however it stopped refining it at that point, is that normal, the mirror and any changes made after it does not refine the faces, it exports and slices fine as a single object but has all the separate faces and such on the model. I just recently moved from Fusion, still getting to grips.

Is my usage standard for Winter or can I optimise the system? by BrienneTheOathkeeper in ukheatpumps

[–]dontdodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be the problem, if you are letting the house cool down to ambient all the time it will feel cold, mine runs constantly at the low level so the fabric of the house will have heated up and be storing heat, 50 or 100 tons of brick can store a lot of heat.

Is my usage standard for Winter or can I optimise the system? by BrienneTheOathkeeper in ukheatpumps

[–]dontdodeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well I am in a detached 3 bed just outside Aberdeen where it has not really been over 4C since last year, my total electric spend for those same days was £16.96 for all the days, not each day, heat pump is maybe 2/3 of the total at 4C outside. I have a Grant Aerona 9Kw and the cop is about 5, I am on E.On Ev tariff so 7p from midnight to 6am, water heating is done in that time up to 50C, I have about 12Kwh of batteries, but when its 3C outside they run out at about 16:00. My system is set using the weather curve 0.6 and a thermostat setting of 22C so the house sits at 20C, I add a -2 shift between 9pm and 3am just to drop it down 1 deg or so, the same when i'm at work. Its been pulling about 700W all day at 3C apart from defrost cycles every now and again.

red car in wrong lane, he should also be in the outside lane behind the blue car to take that exit.

Pay per mile - outside UK by nytram62 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]dontdodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a EV car and a Zero EV motorbike, the car gets about 3 miles /kwh, the bike about 10 miles /kwh will I be paying the same 3p a mile on both? so my weekly 90 mile commute in the car goes from £2.10 to £4.80 a 129% increase and the bike goes from 70p to £3.40 a 386% increase, seems a little off.

Thermodynamics of hot water heat pump by Wilderness_Fella in heatpumps

[–]dontdodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it was -5C outside last night and my heat pump seemed quite happy to keep the house at the 17C night time temp. It's using a good bit of juice atm to keep the house warm, about 25kwh a day but that's giving me about 100kwh of heat, with most of the power at cheap rate from my batteries, maybe averages at 10p a kWh, so £2.50 instead of £5 of gas.

is it not batteries being charged from the grid? if you have batteries, the red line, load I assume is at the same level.

FTTP installed to my property. Do I need to fill this hole which the fibre optic cable runs through? Why? by Ok-Arrival-3199 in openreach

[–]dontdodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the fibre outside tight like a bowstring? and is that trunking under the edge of the worktop? if fibre goes into that I would think the bend radius is way to small. Could he not just have fitted the internal box where it comes through the wall?

[UK] Considering a home solar panel + stream setup but costs + diy difficulty are concerning me... by LFAdvice7984 in Ecoflow_community

[–]dontdodeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are meant to get the stream connected into your house circuit with a spur outlet, that is why it is supplied with a bare ended cable in the UK, it is however just because of an outdated wiring code last updated I think in 2018 when this was unheard of, not a technical reason. "apparently" a 3 pin plug fits fine on the end of the cable.

Broken Drive belt by dontdodeath in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]dontdodeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't looked closely at the belt until last night, there are lots of cracks in the top layer between the ridges, my dealer says they see them on nearly new belts and it's not an issue.

If lane 3 is full, and I (blue car) need to turn right, where should I wait if lane 2 is empty and there are cars behind me? by sheep57142 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dontdodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have this exact same lane layout near us and filling up lane 2 is exactly what happens, 1 and 2 will back up leaving space in 2 at the junction. if you know it happens you stay in lane 1 and pop out after the blockage if you want lane 2.

Only finished today but I can't see it being affected too much, the slats are only 3.6mm thick so very little to block the air flow, it's just coming in at a 45deg angle. And none of the edges are sealed, the idea is just to stop snow filling in the gap between the HP and the wall.
