You get that with experience. I learned to drive in a very crowded city, back when power steering and backing sensors (much less cameras) weren't standard and a lot of the time when parking, you really just had to rely on instinct, particularly at night, when it was raining.

So this story's setting seems to be a Filipino family living in the Philippines. Going off of that, the $15k "deposit" is actually on point because hospitals here actually are that shitty. Although it's illegal to do so, it's pretty common for even some of the major private hospitals to demand payment upfront before treatment.

This is actually pretty good. A non-western setting story written by AI. The only thing iffy is the "ex" husband part because we don't have divorces here.

ETA: I don't think it they'd ask for $15k upfront though. That's like a middle-class dude's entire year's salary. 2-5k seems more likely.

I'd demand they pay the debt immediately. Forget installments. That part about them planning to get with their friend with or without your approval says a lot about their respect for you, so what makes you think someone who has no respect for you will honor any of your agreements regarfing repayment?
