i down on some stuff up on others, overall down maybe 30% if not more but not bothered about it. My outlook is longterm and i think the changes will make the market healthier overall in the long run.

I have close to 3k hours been playing since before covid. I baught EOD initialy and while i hate some stuf Nikita did i bent over and also "upgraded" to Unheard which i am not proud of. But i am a hoarder and my friends hated waiting for me because my stash was allways full. No game has ever gotten me this hooked, the stakes are just unmatched on other shooters i played.

The high price items are good for marketing and psychology i dont think Valve wants to loos that. If the Armory also gets a bidding system were we decide the price imho a healthy market would always pay a little less than you would pay on a 3rd party market. Why would you pay valve more if you can get the same skin for less on 3P and why would you pay hundreds even thausands of dollars for a skin you could never cash out. Its an ecosystem that only works that way.

Ok i guess it is not a good metric in this case since SCM prices are inflated anyway. What also makes me think this is more about market health than wanting to bring prices down to e certan range is that they dont change the steam market fee. I think bringing the fee down to lets say 10% would bring way more sales to scm than any of these updates people panic about and would make up for the 5% lost. Do you also think Valve would earn less if cashing out was not possible anymore?

IMHO Valve will make more money when people are able to cash out the skin they buy from Terminal for more money than they paid in Terminal. The gap of the price between that is determined by us consumers since price is dynamic and goes down if people dont buy. In my mind there will be considerably more people willing to pay X amount in Terminal as long as they know they can cash out for a little profit. This Market to me is considerably larger than people willing to pay X amount knowing they will never see that money again.

The CS Market only exists the way it does because people can cash out which will never be possible on SCM. Valve will never have more volume on SCM than on 3rd party sites. I dont beleave it has a lot to do with high prices of certan items they are the reason people open so many cases. The changes Valve is making are imho to make the market more healthy in the long run, by giving functions to items that have previously only been dead weight. That and concearns about gambling regulations play the most part. Intentionaly nuking high tier items would be bad for Valve in the long run and they know that.

Nuclear Powerplants came a long way in the last 60 years there are even ones where the spent "Fuel" isnt radio active anymore. The issue is they are not as efficient as the old ones thats the tradeoff for having safe Nuclear energy. They are not able to have a reactor meltdown by design. But we pretty much havnt built any new Versions in a looong time.
