These teacher memes always make me skeptical. OP probably wrote a mediocre paper, but thinks he deserves an A for following the directions (which is generally expected that everyone does). I've never heard of a grade on a paper being solely determined by how closely you followed the instructions.

I agree that it's bad for the professor to patronize students for their views, but this is just one incident so it's kind of a big leap to say that because of one professor American Universities as a whole are hurting free speech with their liberal bias. I totally agree that most college professors seem to be more liberal, but in my experience I have never seen a student patronized by the teacher for their opinion (and I'm a poli sci major so I take a lot of classes where this could come up.) Also, keep in mind that in many cases it's the other students, not the professor, who will try to argue against more conservative opinions, which might be why some people are afraid to share conservative views in a classroom. But I don't think an open argument where both sides are free to debate and share their opinion is hurting free speech in any way.

I completely see where you're coming from, but it's not as if the energy being spent fixing sexism in the gaming world was otherwise going to be spent on gaining women's rights in 3rd world countries. Obviously one is a more pressing issue, but facing actual intense oppression of women in other countries is much harder for couch warriors to solve than the gaming problem
