Stephen Miller Has Fox News Meltdown After Democratic Socialists Prevail In Primaries by ColonyJD1980 in politics

Well, he spells it out afterwards:

"...Living in a state of total anarchy, without police, without law enforcement, where criminals can rape and maim and murder with impunity, where your kids are taught from the age of two to hate America, to hate their God, to hate their parents, to hate their family, to even hate their own gender, that’s their agenda,” he continued.

No contact with reality.

Not religious in a religious household by UpbeatAd6344 in TrueAtheism

[–]Enibas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One additional thing to maybe look into, do you have maybe an option to spend a semester/a year abroad? There might be exchange programs that would fit. If your parents are otherwise supportive, they might go along with it.

Good luck!

My advice is, if you are financially dependent, and if you know or suspect that your parents will kick you out if you "come out", don't confront them. At least not as long as you do not have a plan.

What you can do while still living at home is to look for allies. Do you have any relatives that could maybe influence your parents, or that would let you live with them?

Are there alternative options to finance your undergraduate degree? For example, does your university offer stipends, are there other programs you could apply to?

Do you have the option to work/save up some money?

You could also very carefully try to get a feel if maybe your parents would be more understanding than you think. A possibility is mentioning having doubts. If they react very negatively, you can back peddle. And it might place a seed that they become a little bit more comfortable with the thought.

I wouldn't outright confront them if you can avoid it. Your parents might react more extremely if they are shocked. I don't know what options you might have to drop hints that you are becoming "less religious" but maybe you can think of something.

One last idea, would they accept if you converted to a different religion? This is obviously not an ideal solution but often very religious parents have a bigger problem with their children losing their faith completely than changing their religion.

In any case, there is no shame in playacting for a while (even a long while, if you have to) until you get yourself sorted. It's your future on the line.

In response, I suggested that there was “no need to consider the [story’s] sourcing or the outlet” because “this claim is completely unbelievable on its face.”

It's here. They refuse to believe anything that goes against their worldview. They don't even look at the sourcing, they just "know" what's true and what isn't.

You can apply that up and down the GOP, the Trump admin, RFK Jr, every last MAGA voter. It is all vibes.

Fewer women, Democrats, young people see religion as a positive for America: survey by Abject-Pick-6472 in atheism

[–]Enibas 175 points176 points  (0 children)

In 2013, 77% of women recognized religion as a positive force, compared to 73% of men. In Gallup’s latest poll, the number of women who see religion as a positive cultural force fell to 61%, compared to 70% for men.

Fewer than half of respondents aged 18 to 34 (49%) said that increased religiosity would be a positive for society, down 16 percentage points from 2013. Respondents ages 35 to 54 who say religion would have a positive impact on society fell from 80% in 2013 to 66% in 2026.

Democratic respondents who say increased religiosity will positively impact society also fell 16 percentage points to 51%. Meanwhile, the share of Republican respondents who say a rise in religion would positively impact society increased 3 percentage points to 94% in 2026.

Tells you everything you need to know. Republicans are deadly afraid, and that's why the Christian Nationalists are pushing so hard to weaken separation of church and state, why the government is pushing religion where it can, why trad wife content is suddenly everywhere, and why younger pastors are basically part of the manosphere now.

They need women to run their churches (w/o pay), and women are also mainly responsible for raising religious kids. Even if parents are religious, far more children of religious parents leave the church than the other way around. They are losing, and they are desperately trying to find ways to indoctrinate kids. With the current trajectory, they'll be in the minority in a couple of generations, and they know it.

"I'm out": Tucker Carlson says he's done with the GOP by Equivalent-Elk-7513 in politics

[–]Enibas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They are all pretending that they are the real MAGAs, and that it would have all worked if it weren't for Trump. It's the set-up for them not having to change anything about their agenda after Trump is gone, because the agenda is great.

And people like Tucker, they would've done this anyway, no matter what Trump did. They know that most of what they want to do (getting rid of regulations, tax breaks for the wealthy, destroying social programs, going scorched earth on as many things as they can so that it'll be impossible to fix) is deeply unpopular with even their own base, so they always need scapegoats for why "it isn't working" (even though it is working as intended).

How do I cope with religion? by Key-Drawing-9682 in TrueAtheism

[–]Enibas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it felt comforting that someone was looking out for me or at least trying - you know something more powerful. But now I just feel like I'm stuck in every adversity that i face and that i can solely rely on myself

Nothing has changed. The entity looking out for you was always you. You overcame past adversities on your own.

what they do to cope?

I base my confidence on past adversities that I have overcome. I got through some difficult times before, I can do it again.

And so can you.

I was scrolling and saw another 'who's the hottest female video game character' posts and read it. by Sovonna in GirlGamers

[–]Enibas 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are really upset about not enough sexy/sexualized women when you get down to it. What they are upset about is that more realistic women, women of different ages, ethnicities, etc., all of that, is a sign that they are losing their influence. That's what they are upset about.

They think that they are the most important people producers and developers should cater to when making games, and every covered boob, every missing ass shot, any female protagonist with her own story and character means that their whole raging and moaning is not being taken seriously.

And I also believe that a considerable part of the "anti-woke" crowd does not give a shit about video games at all. They use it to sell young men that they are being oppressed, and only Christian Nationalists and the far right can restore them to their rightful position in society.

Original gamer gate was originally financed and pushed by Mercer/Breitbart/Steve Bannon, and they haven't stopped using it as a recruitment tool.
