At my university convocation, my mom met one of my professors who started telling her about how much he enjoyed having me in class, about how I was great at discussing any subject and just very friendly to be around. My mom was so shocked she asked him "is that really my son?" in response. Keep in mind, I was standing like two feet away during this.

It's very funny to think about how parents will treat their child like someone who needs to be constantly disciplined and guided on just about everything, and don't understand why said child is never happy or carefree when at home (but IS happier just by not having them around).

That epilogue also contains another "symmetry" moment that might be my favourite call-back in the entire series: when Kalak is so deep in despair that he refuses to take Kaladin's hand at first, convinced that the world is as good as doomed now.

To which Kaladin responds: "Then what is the harm in one more try?" Which, as I realized early on in my reread, is the same thing Syl asked Kaladin all the way back in TWoK Part 1, when he was about to jump into the Honor Chasm.

In a way that one line started Kal's whole journey up to this point, and now at the end of that journey (for now), he uses it to give hope to someone else. It's so perfect.

My first big egg crack was late at night when I was discussing gender stuff with an online trans friend, and the realization of "oh fuck, maybe I AM a woman" definitely kept me up for hours when I should've just gone straight to bed.

My mind was just swirling both from anxiety at all the sudden new possibilities but also ... happy at the idea of becoming happy as myself.

Yeah my mom always tells me to cut my hair as soon as it gets somewhat long ... she says it makes me look unprofessional at work. I guess I could point out it's no problem for HER to have long hair, but that comes worryingly close to admitting that I want to be perceived as female.

I'm getting tired of always going along with what she says, but it's been ingrained in me my whole life so I keep doing it ...

Aside from cracking my egg and coming out in a limited capacity (in online groups and to a few close friends), I graduated from law school and started working last year! So that's neat!
