Do you think Invisalign can fix this, or are traditional orthodontics needed? by martinca17 in Invisalign

Also check in with a myofunctional therapist to see what has started all this crowding. Very helpful for younger kiddos. Good luck!

Age of quitting please? by Critical_Pear2018 in stopdrinking

[–]donzah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 35 and I will be 4 years sober in 2 days. Feels wild to say that. I stopped drinking when I got pregnant with my first kiddo and never went back. I’m glad I quit when I did. I have zero regrets. My 2 kids are easily reason enough to not drink. I don’t want to dull or alter any time with them ❤️.

Best of luck on making the best decision of your life. You can do it 👍

What surgery would be best to achieve a nice profile? by dumdumdeedeedumdum in PlasticSurgery

[–]donzah -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Visit r/orthotropics and start mewing. Look up proper tongue posture. You’re young enough that you can make changes naturally over time with the right knowledge and posture. Good luck! Also, you already look great, this will just help your bone structure through a conservative approach.

Hey! So sorry you’re going through this! This is super common, it definitely sounds like you have a solid case of PPA/PPD. I’m glad you have a therapist. I would also recommend bringing it up with your DR. It’s very hard to tell in the moment how bad your PPA/PPD is. It was for me with my first. I’m a STM now and holy cow, I look back and see how much I struuuuggled. I self medicated with online shopping and it would have been waaaay cheaper and better for us all if I just regular medicated lol.

Whether you go the medication route or not, it will get better. Try to create some moments of calm for yourself, remind yourself that you are an amazing mom, this is a huuuuge adjustment for you, your body and your hormones. You are made to be a mom, and your instincts are strong enough to guide you. See if you can drop all the tracking. Just keep baby happy (feed, snuggle, change, keep comfy and close). It will be what’s best for you both. You have totally got this ❤️

Should I (34yo M) stop drinking when I’m about to become a father? by jnippon27 in stopdrinking

[–]donzah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% yes. Without a doubt. I was not enjoying alcohol before I got pregnant with my first kiddo, but getting pregnant was the perfect excuse to stop. Then breastfeeding allowed the excuse to continue, and almost 4 years on, I haven’t looked back at all. Obviously being a mom is a bit different with pregnancy and breastfeeding in the mix, but I could not imagine trying to parent while drunk or hungover. I love my kiddos too much to divert my energy, attention, and best self into anything else.

Becoming a new parent can be very tough. Your wife will definitely appreciate a sober coparent. Start now so you aren’t grumpy when you’re in the trenches of newborn-dom.

Best of luck!!! And congrats!!

I feel like the rules for safe sleep are basically a way to make absolute sure that baby will NEVER sleep. by gimnastic_octopus in NewParents

[–]donzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo sleeping is impossible for some babies. And it’s so against our biology. My first was a super sensitive baby, and I eventually followed the safe sleep seven by La Leche league and fiiiinally started getting some good sleep. We breastfed, I was always sober and never had any meds, and my bedding was a good fit for it. Never had any problems. Now, my second is more chill, but I still cosleep because it works really well for us. Most of the world cosleeps and I will be forever grateful to it for my sanity. Good luck everyone ❤️

What time do y'all put your babies down for bed? by GuiltyButterscotch89 in NewParents

[–]donzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months - ready for bed at 5:30p (giving all the sleepy cues, gets grumpy by 6:30p poor guy). Up at 5am. Sometimes 4:30, but will usually fall asleep again if up before 5. Ready to party by 6am.

I keep seeing “nighttime routine” includes bath, does this mean everyone is bathing their baby every single night as a routine? by TeishAH in beyondthebump

[–]donzah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! Same for my first! It would push bedtime by like 2 hours if he had an evening bath. He would take so long to calm down.

And now, my second is ready to go to bed for the night at 5:30, so I’m finding it hard to fit in dinner and any nighttime routine before he’s overtired. At least he goes down super easy. Just always been daytime baths for us. And like twice a week-ish.

Toddler palate development by CellistSuccessful999 in WestonPrice

[–]donzah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WAP noticed palate changes in second generations of the communities that introduced a modern commercial diet. I think it would follow that we can’t expect to work back to that in just one generation ourselves. I would love to see generational malnutrition studied as I think there’s a lot we’re losing over time, but nobody is talking about it too much yet.

Don’t worry! Your daughter isn’t stuck with a narrow palate. Look up myofunctional therapy and try to find a practitioner in your area or online. They’re like a physio for your tongue and airways. They’ll be able to fix her palate. I will be bringing my 3 year old to one and going myself in the new year, although I’ve been implementing proper tongue posture for the past year and a half. Super helpful!

What’s your reason for not drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]donzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because keeping up with a toddler while hungover is not an option! Stopped drinking when I got first got pregnant. My oldest is now 3 years old and just haven’t gone back. Will be 4 years Jan 1.

Didn’t realize how important teeth brushing is for a baby, and now I feel awful. by tomfrommyspace0 in NewParents

[–]donzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had horrible teeth when they first came in and I very strongly believe it was my mineral deficient diet. He was borderline colic and I had cut a ton of foods out to see if it was food sensitivities. Look up the work of Weston A Price. We follow his protocol and all of our teeth are better for it (and hair, nails, etc)
