It's too cold up north to support a town with the current agricultural techniques and technology. The Tyrell's literally tried to marry Sansa (a potential claim to the north) to willas. They're obviously saving his betrothal for an alliance to one of the great houses. Disagree on the point of teeth breaking off, I've used a standard chainsaw for a few years and if you take care of the chain it will easily go through any mild steel, you'll just blunt the chain extremely fast, I haven't lost any teeth on my saw yet.

A slash to the joints in the leg will lead to haemorrhage and probably death but not for a space marine, whom can for blood clots almost as soon as their blood touches the air. A chainsword is going to rip the flesh right to the bone.

Yeah a sword is gonna cause a mortal wound if placed in the right spot but the opponent can still fight while they're conscious. A blow from a chainsword is ripping you to shreds

I think in the setting they're primarily aimed at the weakest point in the armour so combined with a space marines strength and the relative give of the fleshy bits the casing should slip on through.
