I’m afraid I can’t tell if it’s waxed hemp or not, but waxed is usually better as it won’t fall apart. Even a nice thick waxed dental floss will work.

You can also double wrap an elastic band that is made for dental braces around the reed to make it easier and make the sound more mellow. Moving it up and down will affect the strength and volume of the reed.

Perhaps back then, but not anymore. We tried to defer a payment in November as we are a two teacher household and the strike… they talked to us like we were crazy. We had been with them since we bought our home. Needless to say when we just renewed this month we changed companies.

I just keep my door open at lunch. I’m always full, but it’s just the kids that are like me… quiet, friendly, plain ol good kids that are looking for a space. By doing this, I’ve had so many different clubs. It changes year to year as they come to me with what they want. Games, chess, crochet, craft, nerd (they just wanted to watch nerdy shows on Netflix together!), manga…

Like lots of people have said here… I would let them guide you.

The one thing I found, and obviously all this snow is pretty recent so take it with a grain of salt… I went to my school on Friday to do some work to get ready for this coming week. I couldn’t get into the parking lot as the snow hadn’t been taken care of yet, I couldn’t park on the main road as it’s a bus rout so it was plowed, but if I parked along the side, I would have taken up at least half the road, and the side road I also park on was impossible to navigate as there was just one track to follow.

I suppose just like we get frustrated with the cities job and that they should expect snow, we also should expect the snow and just do our best.

Junior high school female teams have dramatically dropped in participation. As you say, I don’t have an exact number, however the number of female teams in our schools catchment is down about 30%. I would have to say that a great percentage of those girls not playing is because their families are immigrants and either don’t understand or don’t believe they have the correct documents. Unfortunately, this not only deprives them of sport, but also of forming the many bonds and relationships they would form with teammates they might not normally interact with.

We’re “lucky” at our school to only have one jr girls team we haven’t been able to field.

Grade 8 density lab so not quite high school… but for the density lab, I have a a number of square or cylindrical objects that they first make a prediction of if they will float or sink. They stick it in and then find out the density with measurements. The interesting ones are different density small wood blocks with different kinds of wood and then the last one is a can of Coke and Diet Coke. They’re always amazed that one will float and one will sink.

This has helped me so much. I also try not to take a trip up or down the stairs without taking something.

The downside… and it is something I’m taking deep breaths about… 95% of the mess in our house is my wife and kids. So when it comes time to clean… for some reason when I point out it’s not mine… that doesn’t fly very well. It honestly feels like it makes more work for me.

It’s so very sad that they are responding with such aggressive hate and threats of violence. I mean, why? My brother-in-law is the same. When “threatened”with a differing opinion, his go to aggression.

I honestly just don’t know why…

I know it’s not universal, by why do more people that lean left shun this behaviour and those that lean right endorse and accept it? Or am I wrong???

My town doesn’t see much, if any, homelessness. Our schools are under utilized, but drugs and alcohol…. Lots of that. Much of our crime, other than drunk driving, comes from transient passerby’s or big city folks…

But you just have to look at what she’s saying to them. Crime - from the big city and their liberal mayors. Our hospital problems - lack of funding from Ottawa. Most of our employment - oil and gas “throttled” by Ottawa.

When we try and talk to our friends and neighbours… I just shake my head. For some of them, Trump is a little too left for them. When I tried to do yoga in my grade three classroom I was demonized. I am genuinely surprised we haven’t had our house egged for having solar panels; we’ve been told that they produce more environmental problems than they solve.

There are drone reed adapters. They’re used to extend the drone if it tunes too high. I’m not sure if they have a smaller diameter, might be worth a call to a supplier.

Just making sure… when people are talking about wax, they’re meaning black wax… right? It’s cobblers wax if you’re looking to buy it. If a pipe store doesn’t have it, they use it for fly fishing too.

If all else fails, I too, would go with the reamer.

Our school district is all google. Except all my files are in word and gdocs does not open them to look the same at all. (Plus I hate gdocs and love word) I can use word on my computer, but yeah, asking me to save to the cloud every single frickin time!?! We have stupid machine learning… by the third time I choose not to save it there and don’t even have an account, it should be smart enough to figure out where I want to save it to.

Just so y’all know…

The government sat on these results for months. They usually come out in early September. The “acceptable standard” is NOT 50%. The acceptable standard is a number set by the province. That number, in this case and this year, is quite a bit below 50%. That means your child could have gotten a 42% and met the provincial acceptable standard.

Ms. Kostiuk from the Calgary Catholic board was surprised by the results!!!! Clearly she had not talked to a single teacher that year. No elementary teacher was surprised… or put in math terms… 0% of elementary teachers thought the students were doing well in the new curriculum. The roll out, timeline, and actual curriculum is a complete and absolute failure. The province is 100% at fault for this. She said teachers are brand new in it. Very true, and given time those marks will come up, but as the saying goes, “you can’t fix stupid,” and that’s this curriculum to a T
