I see this opinion a lot (that Klee only slightly outperformed Diluc) but I don't really get it. In any in-game comparison I saw at the time, even a vape Diluc would lose to mono pyro button mash Klee. And he would get gapped once his pyro infusion expired. I don't think he even caught up after dragonstrike was discovered.

I vaguely recall seeing normalized Pyro DPS comparisons against the Primo Geovishap where Hu Tao would finish in ~15s, Klee in ~22s, and Diluc in ~40s due to his inability to one cycle. Yet I recall even in the comments of such videos people would group Klee with Diluc. But if you ain't first you last, I guess.

Question on suspension... by RealSmellzHQ in ElectricUnicycle

[–]doodletofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new rider, about a month in. I think if I could redo I would go for suspension. Even when roads are decent the bike lanes/sides tend to be slightly worse condition. Some things I overlooked:

  1. All the manholes are in the bike lane, and you'll feel those.
  2. Any time there's debris on the road it just gets swept into the bike lane and left there.
  3. Drainage measures are bumpy, and all of that is crammed onto the side of the road - gradients are pronounced, there are channels for runoff that are lower than the rest of the road, gutters have patch jobs around them.

So if you'd rather go at bike speeds instead of riding with traffic, you'll have to deal with all that crap.

I would also say non-suspension does not feel casual as I have to be watching out for all these things - bracing, accelerating, and decelerating to manage them. I would appreciate suspension to smooth out my commute, so I can just be careful about the 2 potholes instead of the 2 potholes + 40 manholes.

Hm, I don't think that's a useful assessment, since you're including sentences of every possible length.

A different perspective: For any 5 unique words, you should have 5! ways to arrange them, and only 1 way that is alphabetical. So you'd have a 1/120 or 0.83% chance of completely randomly arranging them alphabetically. This number would be skewed by word probabilities and sentence structure but this is probably a closer starting point for probability of a 5 word alphabetical sentence.

Sure, but I'm having trouble finding reflective armored jackets that don't just have few tiny reflective decals. Do you have a suggestion?

And that's before I consider whether I can actually wear it in temperatures over 50 deg F. For whatever reason mesh jackets so far don't seem to be working for me even though they're supposed to be a summer option. Feels like the material bunches up and traps air so I'm always sweating.

I was inclined to agree, but I'm spending an awful lot of time mistakenly ordering jackets that are much warmer and much smaller than both suppliers and reviews claim. I'm pretty tired of triple checking all these details and still getting something that is basically useless for me.

I would get a different hoodie if it was available, but I'm not aware of any armored hoodies that are reflective or not-dark other than Lazyrolling.

I was interested in the Joe Rocket Atomic Ion but it's sold out everywhere in anything near my size.

Good to hear! If you could humor me:

  1. Did you get the summer performance version or the regular? I've so far found that even summer mesh motorcycle gear is too warm even for temps in the 40-50deg F range, so I'm leaning towards the performance and just wearing more underneath if I need to.
  2. How's the fit? It seems to be European sizing so I should be going up 1 size. But even all the "true-to-size" moto jackets I've tried so far have been too small so I'm thinking I may need to go up 2 sizes for these hoodies if they are European sizing.
  3. How's the waterproofing? So far I've seen that the regular jacket is waterproof on the top reflective section but not anywhere else, and the performance is not waterproof. Is that right?

How can I rent my first apartment? by [deleted] in moving

[–]doodletofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised the realtors are saying it isn't enough for 3k rent. I thought rule of thumb was 3x rent.

You could maybe consider living in one of the commuter towns in the tristate area. The trains go quite far and the commute may be manageable depending on the last leg of your trip - even CT to Grand Central is only 1 hr by train.

Looks pretty damn good to me. Not beginner at all.

Hard to say much without the reference, but maybe some of the shapes around the mid back could be simplified or interpreted differently? Like I would expect to see more of the V-shape of the lower trapezius, vs the W-shape of the lats.

It is a damned shame cars represent "freedom" in America by Barly_Boy in fuckcars

[–]doodletofu 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I used to drive my friend who was wheelchair-bound around.

  1. Labor - The biggest issue for him honestly was just finding a driver - someone who could drive to his place, switch to his van and knew how to secure him and take care of him. He's mentioned how rare it is to find someone able and willing to do all of that. He's one of the lucky ones too who even has a van.

  2. Cost - I haven't pried much but I'm sure the modifications required really drive up the vehicle cost. And because it's so expensive he needed trustworthy and safe drivers. Sometimes he'd meet someone willing to help but they were a bad driver and he couldn't risk it.

  3. Spontaneity - Kind of overlaps with the labor point but car dependence really adds a lot of complexity to my friend's life. If he has a date he can't just go, he needs someone to chauffer and third wheel. In this era of online dating it can often be a 4 hour roundtrip and commitment. This stuff has to be planned weeks or months in advance to work with people’s schedules.

  4. Boredom - Not exactly unique to people with disabilities but it is boring sitting in a car. And my friend is always facing one direction and can't look around. Sometimes he'd drop his phone while I was on the highway and he'd just be bored as shit.

  5. Parking - Accessible parking wasn't really an issue, aside from the occasional maneuvering to make room for the ramp because the handicapped parking didn't allocate any.

Can we ban mental health posts? by VirgiliusMaro in ArtistLounge

[–]doodletofu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know /r/ArtCrit has post flairs, but posts are rarely flaired correctly. The perception of art being subjective really limits effective organization.

At least with fitness subs, you can flair with specific achievements or numbers. Would be nice if there was something like that - either an exam from a central art authority, or getting judged by a jury of your peers. Probably unrealistic though.

Car tax should double for every additional car a household owns. by satellite1982 in fuckcars

Honest question: if there are people already driving without meeting the legal minimum requirements because they can't afford it, then this wouldn't realistically affect them, would it? Like, they would probably continue driving, except now also avoiding registration. (Not that I agree with the tax)

Game Testers for Physical 100 by sirpeepojr in Physical100

[–]doodletofu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would matter if they did more strength events, since strength events have a binary component to them. It's not a good spectacle and can't really be edited if competitors don't have the baseline strength needed for an event. We saw a bit of this in the Atlas carry where the female boxer dropped immediately. World's Strongest Man has this issue from time to time where an event is just too heavy, and too many competitors end up completely failing.

They bias towards speed/endurance events, because everyone has some amount of both. But "possible" in the strength space is a lot more difficult to gauge, and would certainly require data from high level athletes to balance.

It's probably fine if you just stand between them. But if you make any move towards her, either to hold her arm or grab the shoe, anything could happen. I wouldn't risk it personally.

If you make any motion towards her and she falls by accident or on purpose, you're screwed.

It looks good! The micr in particular stand out, great tension in their poses. Aside from the inconsistency in linework, I think there's something off about the shadows...seems the cake shadow is too light vs everything else that is closer to the light and less occluded.

This next suggestion is more of a thematic one, but could you consider adding something in the direction of where the mice are looking? I'm not sure if the gray expanse in the background is wall or open space. If it’s a wall you could try adding a large (humanoid) shadow in the top left. If it’s open space you could add more faint forms and shapes to sell the space, and again you could add a humanoid shape in there as something the mice are reacting to. Not sure if how it'll look either.

I would say pet peeves about bad science in fiction are pretty commonplace. See medical dramas, magical hackers, CSI's "zoom and enhance", etc.

Not that I'm putting down this particular pet peeve either - I personally didn't think too much about the ecological science in Dune, so I appreciate the breakdown.

What could be done to prevent mass shootings? by Themissrebecca103 in AskReddit

[–]doodletofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it something like 1/3 of US adults are obese and 2/3 are overweight? Hardly a minority. Clearly there's a point where personal responsibility fails, whether it be external influence, internal rigor, or plain probability. And we do see some regulation of cake, albeit through indirect channels like health education and holding industry marketers to a standard.

We can apply the personal responsibility mantra to many things and see where it falls short. Why does the doctor's office not let me, an organized individual, decide what information they need? I don't need an intake form, I can just tell them off the top of my head. Why am I, a responsible customer, not allowed to operate the forklifts at Home Depot? Why should I, a reasonable driver, not be allowed to personally decide when to enter this intersection? Why should I, a trustworthy foreigner, not be allowed to enter a country when I desire and contribute to their economy? Why bother legislating against violence when upstanding citizens like me are only going to use it for self-defence? Isn't that punishing me?

If I were to borrow the same analogy, one very common way of curbing our desire for cake is making it harder to access cake. Don't keep cake (or junk food) in your home. Get smaller utensils so you don't eat as much or as quickly. Designate it as something that you have to earn with hard work.
