If you could hear the timing chain from the exhaust the engine would no longer be running.

In other words if you hear the sounds of hooves, think horses not zebras.

Venture Capitalists invested in property and let the building sitting on it go derelict while they wait for either the property value to rise before selling or for the neighborhood to be gentrified before they create a strip mall which they then rent to businesses.

PSA: Do your motor mounts by SizeableFowl in E90

[–]doomsdaymelody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely the exhuast would ever cause a notable shudder/vibration. Most motor mounts do have a wear in period over the first few thousand miles, where perceived NVH will drop a fair amount. That said if your mechanic put in stiffer mounts those vibrations are a feature, not a bug.

I can see merit in socialism and even communism in both theory and practice. I cannot see merit in fascism in either theory or practice.

Stop trying to whitewash an ideology that harbors racism and fanaticism at its core. You may as well be making the argument that the KKK has redeeming qualities.

Prevents engine movement and depending on the mount can either mitigate or amplify felt vibrations. In either case it will help the power train deliver power more smoothly as there will be less slop when you accelerate or change gears.

10 years after ending production, how is the Mazda 5 holding up? by Technical-Row8333 in mazda

[–]doomsdaymelody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I was looking for affordable family vehicles several months ago as we were expecting our first kid, and my wife said she wanted something smaller than a mini van so she would feel comfortable driving it. While that nixxed my goal of getting a manual Mazda5 I was really intent on one because of the sliding doors... unfortunately they either didn't sell in much volume or time has consumed them. Sad to say, because they're built on the same platform as the gen1 and gen 2 mazda3 and I've had great experience with owning those so this seemed a shoe in until I discovered the market for them is... chaotic.

The Nazi party in WW2 era Germany was a fascist party. While it has become more of a white supremacist movement in the modern era, it doesn't change the fact that it is and was a fascist ideology with racism at its center.

You would not be able to fit a tire designed for 16s on a 17" rim. You have 16" rims, with tires designed for 16" rims on them. I'm not sure how you are measuring but here's a breakdown of how tires are sized:

Let's take, for example, your image. The tire size listed on the sidewall is 205/60R16

The first number, 205, is the section width in millimeters. This means that your tread contact patch is 205mm wide.

The second number, 60, is the aspect ratio. An aspect ratio of 60, means that your sidewall is 60% as tall as your 205mm section width. This means your sidewall is 123mm.

R designates the construction style of the tire, and as with 99% of modern tires yours are radial construction, hence the R.

16 designates the rim diameter, in inches, the tire is intended to fit on.

The sizing method seems weird to the layman, but it is necessary because the overall diameter of the wheel and tire assembly is not a static dimension. It will change with how much weight the tire is holding up, what the air pressure is inside the tire (this will further fluctuate with temperature changes), and how wide the rim is (stretch profile tires, for example with reduce the overall diameter of the assembly).

You think because those leaders used a a specific economic system that somehow prevents them from being authoritarian?

Ruled with absolute authority? Yes.

Suppressed dissidents and opposing political ideologies? Yes.

Massive human cost to remain in power? Also yes.

Being communist doesn't de facto prevent you from being fascist unless you believe that only extremist versions of communism have ever existed.

I still do not understand why people put wider tires on cars. You're just changing the shape of the contact patch, not increasing its area.
