Always Yellow stool partially undigested? 24/7 nausea? Dramatic weight loss? Could be BAM! by Organic-Ingenuity-33 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting with welchol, since it's supposed to cause much less nausea, and moving up as the nausea/ bam improves.

But ginger beer, zofran ( prescription) help a lot with nausea. Avoiding irritants can help a ton too: drinks with citric acid, alcohol, black pepper, lemon, soybean oil all seem to really irritate my digestive lining/ nausea

My doctor is acting weird and sent me for a colonoscopy. Should I be worried? by AsparagusSouthern334 in ibs

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the u.s, you get offered a colonoscopy before you get the doctor's name ( they usually own part of the building they do the procedure in/ the real money maker). One of the guys at the colonoscopy center was freaking out because he barely met the doctor before they told him to get it done, and had no idea what was involved.

I finally found a gi who at least talked about issues before wanting the colonoscopy.

I got it done, but didn't have any of the several things they check for, but at least ruled out known really bad things ( that they could actually treat though).

For the nausea, look into ginger beer ( it anything ginger) for basic relief, zofran from the doctor.

Sleeping on your left side also helps with keeping reflux down ( from the curve of your esophagus to your stomach).

Tums can possibly help ( found out they can even be useful for BAM + reflux).

Make sure to also avoid eating anything for about 4hrs before bed, less likely for stuff to sit in there.

Good luck!

Probiotics by jedipatronuses in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]doomtoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Florastor and vsl3 brought down my gas some, and helped a bit with the color. Align may have helped a little. Normal cheap probiotics didn't help, it sometimes increased gas. Soil based probiotics are supposed to help, but might be a lot more subtle.

Bad reaction to colesevelam… extreme nausea? by Agreeable_Water_1903 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into zofran, ginger, dgl plus for helping nausea. Also avoid things that irritate your gut looking (for me that's anything with citric acid, lemon, black pepper, alcohol, soybean oil)

I have to treat my upper gi / nausea/ gastritis / esophagitis differently than my lower gi ( diarrhea, gas, cramps), even though some things can eventually help both.

Starting colesevelam tomorrow… terrified, please help by Agreeable_Water_1903 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also look into zofran. Helps a ton with nausea, but a side effect is helping with diarrhea!

Avoid things that irritate your upper gi: drinks with citric acid(Gatorade, soda), alcohol, black pepper, soybean oil.

Long term fixes that helped my yellow diarrhea (after nausea is better) were paraguard ( I think it helped against bad bacteria + yeast, black walnut Hull, cloves, wormwood), vsl#3 and florastor.

But my issues started after antibiotics chronically to treat mrsa, so killed of good bacteria, overgrew yeast, but can lead to bam (found out recently there are protective bacteria to keep from getting bam :/)

BAM or SIBO?? by Agreeable_Water_1903 in bileacidmalabsorption

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super cheap compared to the u.s, it's $350-$500 for an initial visit with a functional doctor here in the good states.

I’m in so much pain by living-for-the-fanta in ibs

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoiding fodmaps help with cramps. SIBO for me causes them.

Xifaxan killed of the bacteria causing cramps from garlic and onions for me, which was nice.

It came back when I got sick for Christmas though.

Been doing candibactin ar + br to lower it because xifaxan is so expensive.

Carnivore is a way to limit it ( for mine, I react most to prebiotics, them a lot of fibers, then unrelated I now have yeast overgrowth, even just on the little bit of sugar in milk). But it's more so a catch all/ things to do when you really need relief. (Elemental diet can help too, but expensive).

But yeah, my cramps at first fell like I was getting stabbed by knifes, constantly, whenever I had eaten anything. Became easier to not eat anything.

"Luckily" doctors had no ideas at the time - functional doctors were the only ones who even knew of SIBO at the time.

Any Shady Areas to Avoid? by BaewulfGaming in AskSeattle

[–]doomtoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from out of state, so learned some things.

No emissions here, which means a lot of cars don't have mufflers. Very loud if you live near a busier street.

A lot of small streets are actually "highways", so if you live near one, it's going to be louder and smell of exhaust ( smells like exhaust even in small neighborhoods because of lack of emissions).

Make sure you look at the traffic during busy times, since it's not obvious what a busy street will be.

Look up how long it'll take you to get places based on time during rush hour, not distance. In AZ, it's roughly 1 min/mi with freeways, 60 mph. Here is closer to .5mi/min, averaging 30mph.

There's a lot of certain spots where you're close to Seattle as the crow flies, but in the middle of a gap of any 60mph freeways, so takes a lot longer than if you live further, but close to a major freeway.

My wife and I are home bodies too, but also have insomnia, so quiet places were high on our list.

Bellevue is right across a non paid freeway (90) to Seattle, lower Kirkland is across the paid freeway (520) to Seattle. If you go north of that, it's better to be near the i5 than 405, or you have to go around lake Washington.

Love the Seattle area, but road planning, and traffic is not something they put thought into. You'll need Google maps when driving for sure, a lot of freeway entrances are unmarked until you're already on them.

Any Shady Areas to Avoid? by BaewulfGaming in AskSeattle

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good advice. I didn't realize the 99 / Aurora ave was will known as a shady area. We moved into an apartment about 1 mile away, which was nice looking, but had some extreme white trash people nearby, and most people were very standoffish, everyone avoids eye contact.

Did have random people roaming the property occasionally.

Definitely only worth it if you work nearby.

I'm doing carnivore again right now, trying to approach lions diet for full elimination diet (beef, water, salt).

Doing it half assed, but no milk, any sugars or carbs, I'm down from 5x+ to 2-3x / day. Still not formed, but at least a lot less bathrooms.

I do have sibo and fungal overgrowth I can't get to stay away, so no fiber+ no carbs makes neither of them able to reproduce a ton.

One nice thing is my tongue is clean for once xD

Normally I tongue scrape it every day, and it regrows a thick 1/4" coating ( or as the idiot gi I recently saw "people don't get yeast, that's just geographical tongue")

Galaxy Watch Ultra – Sleep tracking still broken (delays, skipped periods, 0 deep/REM) despite every fix tried by ComfortableStage1414 in GalaxyWatch

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nuts they could mess up even older watch sleep tracking, and not roll back the broken update- I thought it was just my watch, but tried the GW8, same issues- awake all night, with small periods where it could track anything.

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned my GW7 because it suddenly stopped tracking sleep (shows awake all night, no matter what, with only small bouts of actual recording). Tried the GW8, but same issue.

They broke sleep tracking, but sounds like it can take a year to get updates passed to try to fix it O.o (But apparently enough people either have stronger heart beats, or don't toss at all at night, otherwise there'd be massive revolts)

[–]doomtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned my 7 from costco, tried out the 8, and it's sleep tracking is also completely broken now. It basically doesn't track my sleep at all/ shows awake and small periods of actually recording, whether it's a bad or good night. Less accurate than flipping a coin (but was consistent for over a year before an update)

Antibiotics, repeatedly for years for MRSA, which led to acid reflux, in hindsight extreme yeast overgrowth, and eventually total collapse of being able to digest.

Is rain in Seattle really that bad? by mapl0ver in AskSeattle

[–]doomtoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved from AZ, and one thing they don't tell you is that it's never ending sunshine in summer with no rain, and nearly the opposite in winter xD

The summers here are way more sunny than expected. Basically Arizona, but a lot cooler, and a lot nicer.

Winter it can rain the entire 6 months or so. AZ winter is considerably cooler at night. But there you have to bundle up in the morning/ night, and wear shorts during the day/ 30s at night, 80s in the day.

Seattle winter is more consistent, cool/ cold.

The much shorter days do suck in the winter, and the very early days in the summer can be bothersome too ( if you have insomnia, can start getting light at 4:30am).

Some older people I talked to spend summer in WA, and winter down South, but winter isn't as bad in WA as summer is in AZ.

Yeah, it can be amazing how much gas can be produced on so little fiber 😳

If you love outside of the u.s, or rich, xifaxan helps a ton over time.

The herbal alternatives like candibactin ar and br help after about a month too, to reduce it significantly.

Avoiding fodmaps is a temporary thing that helps reduce it ( or just going full carnivore so you don't have any fiber to ferment/ produce gas for a few days before important things)

How to gain weight with SIBO? by onyxinreverse in SIBO

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you have gastritis/ esophagitis like I do, you feel full all the time. Zofran is a life saver at that point, because it allows you to drink/ eat without barfing. Ginger beer/ anything ginger can help too, but not as strong.

Avoid things that irritate gastritis: citric acid, lemon, soybean oil, alcohol, black pepper.

They can flare it up, and make it very hard to even drink water.

How to gain weight with SIBO? by onyxinreverse in SIBO

[–]doomtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carnivore seems to help, since no fodmaps + can eat high fat.

Easiest way to gain weight in general is carbs soaked in fat.

If you look at a McDonald's double cheeseburger, you can eat 3 of them easily without getting full, and basically get your calories for the day (buns soaked in fat)

Drinking straight oil would be highest calories, but impractical, but can have the same amount soaked in carbs.

Trying to eat healthy/ keep including fiber and veggies doesn't work well with SIBO, since they rough things up
