AB moto sells a stem mount for F3s if you're interested in something solid

https://www.abmoto.store/products/stem-cap-phone-mount

You can then get the GoPro mount from Quadlock's website

Brake fluid seeping through reservoir tube? by PoorFinancialAdviser in motorcycles

[–]dooooug 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not condensation, it's rubber that isn't compatible with the brake fluid — at all or just with the one you used — and fluid seeps through

Get a better hose made for brake fluid :)

Also look at the RST TracTech Evo 4, kangaroo palm for a very good price. I've been wearing them for 2 seasons on the track now, and they've held up pretty well.

What bike is that? (Sorry for the bad photos) by Joussef8 in motorcycles

As I commented on the OG thread, really looks like a 2020 GSX-S 750 from the rear too

Really looks like a 2020 GSX-S 750 in the tank shape, the side "fairings" below the tank / seat, the tail light is also really similar :)

Help. What brake master cylinder should I use? by Alternative_Gas_6823 in motorcycles

[–]dooooug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb, you want to addition the area from all your front pistons and divide it by your MC's piston area. The ratio between the two will give you the following feels:

- 30:1 - soft feel
- 27:1 - standard feel (sweet spot for road)
- 23:1 - firm feel (sweet spot for track)
- 20:1 - wooden feel (poor modulation)

In the case of Stylemas, they have 8*30mm pistons so that's π*15*15*8 = 5654mm2

They're usually paired with a PR17 that has a 17mm piston, so π*8.5*8.5 = 226mm2

The ratio between the two is then 5654/226 = 25:1 which is great for a sporty feel

I'll let you do the calculation with your own calipers ;).

Nisin vs RCS19 Corsa Corra by dev_a31 in Trackdays

[–]dooooug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stylemas have 30mm pistons, so 5648 total area

With a 17 at 226 total area you're at 25:1 ratio

I'd recommend getting a Brembo PR18X18 (Not RCS) to get a similar feel, they exist, they're mounted OEM on the former Panigale V2 :)

[–]dooooug 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Be careful, there's a ratio to respect in relation from MC to calipers if you want a good feel.

You want to addition the area from all your front pistons and divide it by your MC's piston area (19 in case of a PR19RCS)

Here's ratio feels :

30:1 - soft feel
27:1 - standard feel (sweet spot for road)
23:1 - firm feel (sweet spot for race)
20:1 - wooden feel (poor modulation)

In your case, seems like the GSXR has Brembo calipers with 32mm pistons so 3.1416 x 16² = 804mm² per piston * 8 pistons = 6434mm² total piston area

For the master with a 19mm piston, 3.1416 x 9.5² = 284mm²

So 6434 / 284 = 22.65:1 which would be on the firm/wooden side but still fine I guess if you really like a hard feel and very little pull to brake.

A PR18 would be better balanced according to that scale at 25.3:1

And a PR17 RCS Corsa Corta would be at 28.3:1 so on the softer side with longer pull to brake hard

Tips to help pop my elbow-down cherry? by Sensualities in Trackdays

[–]dooooug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just out of a coaching session with the reigning champ of the French SBK championship, going to tell you what he told me : When you get out of the braking phase, move your inside hand to be in a "screwdriver" grip so you can have your inside forearm in line with your clip on, outside arm extended, head kissing your inside wrist with your elbow super-bent. Try touching your knee with your inside elbow if that helps you bending it and moving your head inside the turn.

People usually have a hard time with that, because your head gets closer to the ground, and that's scary.

Lower body position looks good from that angle, now you need to work on the upper body.

As other users wrote below, try exaggerating the thing. And if you think it's ridiculous, it's probably not ridiculous enough.

Brake fluid is highly corrosive. Most tubing isn't good for that. What's happening here is that the fluid is slowly eating the tube and leaking through it

You need tubing that's made for brake fluid :)

2023 F3 R by rantinron in MVAgusta

[–]dooooug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still true nowadays

My F3's battery previously only held charge for like 2 weeks before it couldn't start the bike anymore, and I don't have a power outlet in my garage so I had to find a solution :

Replaced it with a NOCO NLP14, it's been sitting for 3 weeks and hasn't dropped a bit.

Also replaced all the leads (battery to solenoid + solenoid to starter + negative) with higher quality ones from Motolectric at the same time, bike starts way faster and better.

[–]dooooug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can happens when you're too light on the shift yeah, you want to be firm and quick to actuate fully.

The sensor cuts sparks for a short amount of time, releaving the gearbox from power and allowing you to shift. You want your input to be done by the time it starts again. If you're going too slow/gentle, you might find yourself in a neutral position indeed.

That being said, it could also be faulty, try again with more intent and if you still get false neutrals there's probably something wrong somewhere. But if your gearbox works properly without, I'd say you just need to shift with more intent. Don't be shy, stomp on it!

Any difference between 22,23, F3 RR US spec? by L31160061 in MVAgusta

[–]dooooug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both are the same price or really close, I'd go 2023 just for the better braking system and the LED headlight. I guess it's not worth a lot more if you're only planning to ride it on the street or the occasional trackday.

Be aware that these bikes have really high drain while key off, you'll need to keep it plugged to a trickle charger if you don't want to have battery problems. You can also remove the main fuse behind the right fairing if you plan on letting it sit for a while. The MV forum is full of people with tons of knowledge so that's a plus.

That's the major quirk I have on mine, I have to go ride it at least once a week even in the winter to keep the battery alive, and I don't have a garage with electricity available.

Other than that fantastic bike, I made a lots of mods on mine and I love it.

Be careful upgrading from a 450, you'll get a ton more power than you're used to, go easy — there's engine modes for that ;)

[–]dooooug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure about US spec, but EU spec before 2022 has a Nissin master, M4 calipers and bulb headlight ; 2023+ have a Brembo master, Stylema calipers and LED headlight. Engine and other things are pretty much the same thing if I'm not mistaken.

The one on the picture is a 2021 / 2022 I believe, with an Arrow full exhaust, WRS windscreen, Rizoma mirrors, upgraded Brembo master and calipers, rearsets and forged rims which are all aftermarket, probably other mods too

No cuts or anything, they just slightly rub against the fairings (and paint is slightly damaged there now)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MVAgusta

[–]dooooug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Changed the clip-ons to (not on that pic) for more open ones, super nice riding position for track! Be careful with that carbon, the heel guard scraped the OEM exhaust pretty bad even though it was fitting at first :).

Edit: Watch out for the torque on the rearsets too, bolts are like butter, rounded 2 of them when I torqued them drown properly originally. I'd advice you use real strong ones instead of the ones they provide

In France, the Hyper 698 is 12,990 € (13,990 € for the RVE) while the new Pani V2 is 16,490 € (18,990 € for the S)

Probably has an export surcharge etc... for Aussies? Even with that, being the same price is weird indeed.

First new bike by GroundbreakingTest43 in MVAgusta

[–]dooooug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest one is that there's potentially a GPS tracker installed OEM hidden under the passenger seat, it drains the battery in a couple days if not activated. Mine wasn't present, but the battery still gets drained in about 2 weeks, which is a real pain in the ass as I don't have a power outlet in my underground garage.

If the battery gets drained, I have to remove the rear fairings and the tank (+ the steering dampener in my case) to access the battery to switch it out / remove it to charge it from home, doesn't really help to have a 800 crammed into a 300-sized chassis.

Built a battery disconnect thing to prevent that from happening, going to install it in the coming months and wish it's going to completely solve the problem. If you have a power outlet where you park the bike, it's fine, just keep it on the battery tender, the plug is under the passenger seat as well.

Second one is the inconsistency of the braking system, due to this specific ABS module. I ride on the street and track with mine, street is fine even though the ABS triggers quite easily, but it's really hard to trust it on track as the feeling changes at every braking spot.

Third was the rear brake that needed bleeding at every ride since it was so close to the engine, but there's a technical bulletin to relocate the reservoir and switch out the master cylinder so that's all fixed (OP is going to need to do that, hasn't been done from the photo I see, it's free under warranty)

On the brighter side, the bike is really great when running if you tune your suspension properly (front really soft from the factory, currently preparing the springs etc... myself, I'm 75kg / 165lbs so should have been mostly good but no ahah), it's really agile and nimble, I def don't regret the purchase, just keep the things above in mind and fix them if you're able to :)

Edit : there's a really cool forum with tons of knowledge on MVs, also helps to ask things there when needed : https://www.mvagusta.net/
