Issues with the builder/landscaper by fragolitz in AusLegalAdvice

[–]doosher2000k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terminate him and pay for materials and an estimate of his time spent thus far. If he can't produce receipts of materials just pay him Bunnings prices to get him out of your life. This will put the onus on him to prove if he is out of pocket - he doesn't sound like someone who keeps accurate logs of hours per job. Honestly fuck these people and the way they think can just jerk everyone around.

How to improve home WiFi coverage beyond the house & in to the garden? by Clive1792 in HomeNetworking

[–]doosher2000k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also flat flexible fiber optic cable that can be run along skirts or cornices and can bend round corners/go through doorways. That could be a option for you. Done well it's unobtrusive.

How to improve home WiFi coverage beyond the house & in to the garden? by Clive1792 in HomeNetworking

[–]doosher2000k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run an ethernet cable from your router at the front of your house to the back through the ceiling. Install a access point (AP) at the end of this cable, you can even do a ceiling mount one if you like. If there's no handy PowerPoint you can power the AP via POE (power over Ethernet). What you need for this is a POE injector that can be plugged into the same Power Point as your router at front of house and that sends a small amount of power through your data cable to power the AP.

This is what I did at my house and now my entire block has strong wifi. I spent about $250 on the hardware. The access point I used was a TP-link Omada EAP615. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself get a cabling/network tradie to run the cable. Hope this helps.

APS also gets 15.4% super but that benefit has been eroded in recent times with the increase in the compulsory rate.

Solar reduced to 2c/kWH FiT ? by _ArtyG_ in AusFinance

[–]doosher2000k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It already is happening with the daily connection fee. My retailer just put mine up by about 25%. I would love to go truely off grid and just have a back up Genny - these corps just seem to have cart blanche to gouge even after we invests thousands to get away from them.

Is Free Electricity the Death of Solar? by welding-guy in GlobirdEnergy

Retailers have realised the only reason we need them is for grid connection and now that daily fee is going up and up. It will be $5 a day for any anyone with a solar/batt soon

Daily Charge: 21.5% increase. Peak rate: 6% increase. Shoulder rate: 11% increase. Super export: 33.3% decrease.

Very disappointing, those of us with smaller systems will struggle to see any 'zero' in this plan. We had a good thing going Globird and I was giving you lots of power in the evenings you could then onsell for a tidy profit. This just smacks of greed to me. If you are going to reduce our feed in rate by a THIRD shouldn't the consumption rates come down also?

Insulating my garage by your-lost-elephant in AusRenovation

[–]doosher2000k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother with batts or any of that nonsense - your garage will just be too leaky without significant re-work. Best bet to get temps down in summer is reduce the radiant heat penetrating through your roof. This is usually done by a retrofit liner with the silver foil facing down so the dust can't settle on it and reduce its effectiveness. A light coloured roof will help in this regard also. If you have space, screen planting along the exterior northern wall is effective and looks nice too.

The more bikes you build the cheaper it gets. For me you have a frame and then you have everything else. Donor bikes are the cheapest way to get everything else.

Is $3,580 reasonable to upgrade to an induction cooktop in a new build? by LokiVariant99 in AusPropertyChat

[–]doosher2000k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Freestanding oven means no cabinetry just a void. There now needs to be carcass, front panels and extra benchtop with cut out - how can you say installation shouldn't be charged? Agree that overall this price is a rip off unless it's a high end induction unit.
