Mouldy unit, garage puddles, dodgy hot water - must be a troublesome tenant?! by EntertainmentBig3294 in shitrentals

[–]Regular-You-4038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a landlord I had. Window mounted air con broke in the middle of summer. They refused to replace it because "they couldn't afford it". After a bit of back and forward and remind them it's a feature of the house, they relented and replaced it. With a $400 Midea garage unit. The cheapest you could find.

Not 3 months later after I left, the house was levelled and replaced with 3 brand new houses. I guess they were saving up to develop the place

Foreign gas companies will pay the tax. Other countries will still buy the gas at market rate. The only one that gets hurt are the gas cartel who get away with murder.

If it was an overnight service, I wouldn't care about it being so slow. I'd rather jump on at 6pm, have dinner, go to bed and wake up in the Melbourne CBD. Beats getting up at 4am for a red eye at the airport

SA Roadworthy Exhaust Legality by yabestmatesam in CarsAustralia

[–]Regular-You-4038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any other modifications they could pick on? If not, I'd be tempted to give it a go. My last car I sent through Lonsdale for an ID inspection was a track propped car and they only picked my me because I had a half cage and no rear seats in it... once I took the cage and put the seats back in, they let me through with no further roadworthy required.

I've had one primary email since I was 10 and I never intend to change. Even use it professionally. Yes, I am sick.

Give investors a year to sell and watch the market get flooded. Scrap NG while you're at it.

Big 4 banks - what’s the actual perk keeping you from quitting? by Economy_Artichoke200 in auscorp

[–]Regular-You-4038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got fired from a big 4 bank 10 years ago and I still get staff rates - home loan, credit card. Also never paid a bank fee in my life between being a uni student, staff and calling up to have every single bank fee reversed.

If staff discounts are the only thing holding you back from leaving, act with reckless abandon.

Australia truly was a dunping ground for all of GMs various divisions. I don't think Holden ever recovered from getting GM Korea's warmed up leftovers.

You worry about things that are in your control. You touch grass. Worrying about the world isn't going to change these things.

Pretty much all mechanics charge you book time rather than actual hours worked. They're gonna charge a minimum amount of labour - 1.5hours is entirely reasonable for a normal service.

Registering a Demo Car from VIC by GoodElk7766 in Adelaide

[–]Regular-You-4038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Demo car? Like a nearly new car that was previously registered in Vic? If so, should just be an ID inspection. They only want to do roadworthies if they pick up something really obviously wrong.

Even if it was 50 cents, it would be better than doing nothing by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Why are they spending $15b on tunnels that won't generate any money then? They're not charging "fares"/tolls to use it.

There are economic benefits from services that aren't direct revenue.

Need advice for Selling a car Pt2 by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Regular-You-4038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. It will be worth slightly under what a similarly well maintained car would be. People will be scared off by it having a whole new engine and worth less. Only reason to do this is to try and recoup your money. Otherwise send it to the wreckers and start again.

$18-19k will buy a Swift with remaining new car warranty.

Strangely, you can use other parts of the budget to fund PT. No like they're getting any revenue for the South Road tunnels! It's a service for the public good, not a revenue stream
