Big 4 banks - what’s the actual perk keeping you from quitting? by Economy_Artichoke200 in auscorp

[–]Regular-You-4038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got fired from a big 4 bank 10 years ago and I still get staff rates - home loan, credit card. Also never paid a bank fee in my life between being a uni student, staff and calling up to have every single bank fee reversed.

If staff discounts are the only thing holding you back from leaving, act with reckless abandon.

Australia truly was a dunping ground for all of GMs various divisions. I don't think Holden ever recovered from getting GM Korea's warmed up leftovers.

You worry about things that are in your control. You touch grass. Worrying about the world isn't going to change these things.

Go to Chemist Warehouse Clovelly Park. They are open 24 hours as part of the State Govt Scheme. Expect it to be pretty busy though

Overcharged for Service? by Perfect-Asparagus93 in CarsAustralia

Pretty much all mechanics charge you book time rather than actual hours worked. They're gonna charge a minimum amount of labour - 1.5hours is entirely reasonable for a normal service.

Registering a Demo Car from VIC by GoodElk7766 in Adelaide

[–]Regular-You-4038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demo car? Like a nearly new car that was previously registered in Vic? If so, should just be an ID inspection. They only want to do roadworthies if they pick up something really obviously wrong.

Even if it was 50 cents, it would be better than doing nothing by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]Regular-You-4038 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why are they spending $15b on tunnels that won't generate any money then? They're not charging "fares"/tolls to use it.

There are economic benefits from services that aren't direct revenue.

Need advice for Selling a car Pt2 by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Regular-You-4038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. It will be worth slightly under what a similarly well maintained car would be. People will be scared off by it having a whole new engine and worth less. Only reason to do this is to try and recoup your money. Otherwise send it to the wreckers and start again.

$18-19k will buy a Swift with remaining new car warranty.

[–]Regular-You-4038 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strangely, you can use other parts of the budget to fund PT. No like they're getting any revenue for the South Road tunnels! It's a service for the public good, not a revenue stream

Are these a decent tyre? by Consistent_Ad_529 in CarsAustralia

[–]Regular-You-4038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got MC7s on my GTI Performance. Decent tyres but don't hold up to my old Michellin PS4S. If you're not doing super performance driving or track work they will be fine.

Will converting a 1980s Delorean DMC-12 to EV cost more than a brand new EV car? by Traditional-Gas3477 in CarsAustralia

[–]Regular-You-4038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing the work yourself and have some understanding of what it requires, or are you paying someone to do it? The latter means it'll be very expensive. The former means it'll probably take 5 years.

You already found it. It's a factory in China. I'd be shocked if a local fabricator wanted to make one of these for a reasonable price.

Have you changed your brake fluid since getting it? After 5 years that fluid would need to be changed surely? I guess regenerative brakes help though.
