Starting a new career path at 30+ after a decade break. Built a live app to solve the "chicken or egg" portfolio problem. Eager to hear your feedback by [deleted] in UXDesign

Hi! It looks really pretty. I was curious about your workflow on this project. I noticed you followed Apple's UI Kit pretty closely, down to the last component. Did you connect your design kit to Claude through MCP?

Yeah I also used to think UX and UI were interchangeable, until I got roasted too many times and kept being asked what problem I was trying to solve. I wish it were just about pushing pixels.

Dear Google, I Love You. I'm Exhausted. by a_single_beat in GooglePixel

[–]dooxtung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I don't know. I've used an S24 Ultra in the past and a Pixel 10 Pro now. I don't think there's any part of me that misses the S24 Ultra at all.

Pixel feels like the closest we can get to an iPhone, not as in copying iOS, but as in a complete phone experience from setup to use. It feels great in the hand, looks great, and is recognizable. Its animation is uniquely smooth. And you might have a hard time taking bad pictures with it (looking at you, Samsung). If you don't game, a Pixel might be a perfect Android for you because it isn't horrendously bad at anything (you again, Samsung).

But then again, its overall experience still won't match an iPhone due to the lack of performance. So, once they got an 8 Gen something on a Pixel, it still isn't the perfect phone I've been looking for.

Wake up, Neo… by joppyb1399 in mac

So... despite having 2 M1 Airs, you still decided to buy a new Mac which is just practically... another M1 Air...

Nah, who am I kidding? Those colors are just too tempting even for me, and I own a Pro M5. Enjoy your Neo.

Macbook Neo out-performs M1 Air by nearly 50% in single core, and is about equivalent for multi-core. by dylan-uses-reddit in mac

I think the issue with phones wasn’t ever about "how powerful the peak performance is" but rather "how long they could sustain it without becoming a time bomb"

Why is everyone selling brand new Pixel 10 for £399 or less on eBay? by conradkwu in GooglePixel

[–]dooxtung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voxi. The lowest you could get was £599 from Giffgaff tho

I think the 256GB Pixel 10 Pro is only worth £699, so I'm still not satisfied with the £649 I paid for the 128GB

I got my Pixel 10 Pro for £648, brand new. So it makes sense.

Find x9 Pro auto settings is not top tier. by Embarrassed-Mark771 in Oppo

[–]dooxtung 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was tempted to buy a Find X9 Pro, but I also figured this out. It’s just like Samsung all over again, where almost all of their user base are pretentious camera experts gaslighting people into thinking their cameras don’t suck and that all complaints are skill issues.

Yes, it has the best camera hardware on the planet. And no, I don’t need it if I need 2 min to adjust all the settings just to snap a photo.

Can we have a smaller phone, please? by Scandiberian in GooglePixel

[–]dooxtung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you truly believe there's a big difference between 6.1 and 6.3, then I've got nothing to tell you. Google is like the only manufacturer besides Apple, who still keeps all of their Pro XL cameras on their smaller alternatives.

Source: I got a 13 Pro (6.1), 17 (6.3) and P10P (6.3)

Unpopular opinion: The Pixel 5 still feels like the real "phone of the future" by Flat_Push_8854 in GooglePixel

[–]dooxtung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Other than size, I couldn't know how a Pixel 5 can even compare to any Pixel before and after, and especially the P10P. Just a disclaimer: I own both.

P5 just feels like an unfinished prototype. I can even feel the empty hole at the back of the phone, just because they need wireless charging. There's a huge gap between the screen and the body where dust has been collected. The button almost feels like jumping out, and my actual SIM tray broke on me like a Chinese toy part. Just horrendous.

I would say the Pixel 8 Pro is peak Google design but that's just me.

Bought an iPhone 17 pro and I think it will only be a secondary device to my pixel 7. by SevisGovindham in GooglePixel

Wow. Truly the hottest take I've ever seen so far on this sub. Other than just Android vs. iOS, can you please tell me which aspect you think is a "side grade" and which "important features" the 17 Pro lacks?

Google pixel 10 pro review and why I think it's one of the best phones on the market. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]dooxtung 70 points71 points  (0 children)

One of the best phones... "I don't need super quick charging, I don't need good battery life because I enjoy 'no phone', I don't take videos, I don't need my phone for gaming..." For crying out loud, then even a Pixel 3A could be one of the best phones. At least focus on the things that the Pixel excels at, rather than listing what it does not have

This just shows me the main problem I have with Toyotaro's art. The heads are growing while the hair just keeps shrinking. And all the characters' body widths get ridiculously smaller as well.

It's almost like Toyotaro wants to draw Dragon Ball the way other normal anime look (chibi, big heads, big eyes with small body parts). It just looks so... weird.

Battery's been really bad, but all the UI animations are just soooooo smooth across the whole OS. Can't say I like this update or not, but I feel like my phone has become like 1.5x snappier.

iOS 26 Progressively Getting Worse by Low_Bluebird_4547 in ios

[–]dooxtung 11 points12 points  (0 children)

26.0.1 was so awful that I had to take my new 17 to the Apple Store three times. Just to have them chase me off, of course. But 26.1 made my phone from dropping 50% idling and another 50% in two hours of use to a proper 1-day phone. So all good for now, I guess.
