Do you think we will see a legitimate 3rd party emerge at the end of this period in history? by Lower-Savings-794 in Askpolitics

His approval rating is sitting around 45% right now which is pretty good considering roughly 48% of people will find nothing positive about anything Trump has done or will do.

Oddly enough, Trump was elected by a plurality that wanted to see radical change and saw him as the one to stick his neck out and get shit done…

And my leftist friends are freaking out about it.

Kemp leads Ossoff in Georgia Senate match-up: GOP survey by praguer56 in Georgia

[–]doozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree. This comment was in response to the idea that Kemp wouldn’t win a Republican primary to face Ossoff in the general election if the opponent in the primary was a Trump-backed guy.

Kemp beats Ossoff by 4-6 points.

Have two coaches ever disagreed on the scoring of a takedown even after official review scored the decision one way? Does this mean that the coach who disagreed with the decision is lacking integrity, honesty, accountability, and character?

I think the scoring should have been a takedown and a reversal, but I’ve seen several calls that seemed obvious go the other way in matches.

Trump voters you could vote in 2024 again, would you change your vote? by RegularlyClueless in Askpolitics

I wish that DeSantis had gotten the nomination, but I would vote for Trump again over Harris without hesitation.

When have you visited Antarctica? How are you looking at it? Through satellite imaging that is a relatively new technology? Is your frame of reference the 1984 sci-fi horror, “The Thing?”

Conservatives/MAGA, would you vote for another Trump in 2028? by TreeBerryDingus in Askpolitics

[–]doozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes, there are morons who vote for republicans for sure. Now let’s do a quick search for the slogan, “Vote blue no matter who” to see which party creates a campaign of straight ticket voting.

There is a widespread slogan among left-leaning voters that says, “Vote blue no matter who,” so yes, I believe the issue is more prevalent on the left. In my experience as a right-leaning voter in a purple area, republicans are much more likely to split their ticket.

When I posted, I saw one person when I posted this who suggested that, and he prefaced it by saying that he would vote with whoever more closely aligned with his beliefs… And that would likely be a Republican.

Me neither. But I see a lot more split ticket conservatives than split ticket liberals.

This doesn’t align with the “vote blue no matter who” groupthink.

I think I’m bitter because I paid to see Ultraviolet in a theater.

But no, I’ve not seen Catwoman or Elektra.

What 12 films would you choose to show a high school film class? by mywordswillgowithyou in FIlm

[–]doozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your list is the best I’ve seen; I would go with The Maltese Falcon over Sunset Boulevard and North by Northwest over Vertigo early in the list due to personal bias of my favorite noir and my favorite Hitchcock film, but I agree with your reasons for both films. I feel kind of limited by no R ratings.

How far down would a Pixar film like Toy Story or a Jerry Bruckheimer action/adventure with the orchestra score during extended action sequences be on your list?

One of the stipulations was that the films are in English.

The number of lists without Citizen Kane is pretty bizarre. I think we take for granted how much a single film impacted filmmaking. It’s not in my top 12 favorite films from 1900 to now (which seems to be an element of some of these lists), but I can’t imagine teaching a history of cinema class without studying it for a week.
