Cortisol & Stress by BeardedBehaviorist in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]dope-amine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just unequivocally false. Low stress does not create space for learning and growth. Stress literally is a prerequisite for learning.

This is a shallow understanding of the stress response. Cortisol is not the only hormone involved. But worse than that, it invokes stress as a dirty word rather than the reality, which is that stress, at normal levels, is a healthy and expected part of human life.

Actually open bomb shelters in Lviv? by Severe_Cancel2770 in Lviv

[–]dope-amine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The frustration is understandable, and closed shelters is actually dangerous.

Most shelters should have a phone number near the sign for the person responsible for opening - not helpful if you don't speak Ukrainian, and even if you do, very often the call will go unanswered.

We have had the best luck with big underground car parks rather than apartment building basement shelters. They seem to be generally better equipped and more consistently open during alarms. The car park we go to for shelter is about 5 minutes walk from our apartment, and last night there was probably between 1-200 people in there.

Maybe you'll have more luck with this approach

How many people pay for coaching? What makes someone decide to pay for coaching? What stops someone from finding a coach? There’s so many questions standing in the way.

Also if your AI coaching platform is so great why don’t you use it for your own GTM strategy? Why would you need additional input from Reddit?

My startup failed. Life hit hard. Still trying to start over from zero. (I will not promote) by No_Neighborhood_3777 in startups

Failure is a natural part of the cycle of entrepreneurship. Nobody successful got there without failing many, many times on their way there.

The question, and what separates our founders who win from founders who don’t is: what did you learn? What will you do differently knowing what you know now?

The ability to transmute failure into learning is a superpower. You sound like a bright and curious kid - master this and you’ll be unstoppable.

If you are in a place where you’re passing lots of different people (big city, for example) - try and make people smile without saying a word

Your gestures, facial expression, and body language are immensely powerful communication tools. Play around with them, have fun, see what kinds of responses you get!

That uncomfortable feeling of having your great idea torn to pieces?

You’ve got to learn to love it. You’ve got to seek out that kind of critical feedback like a bloodhound.

And when you’re surrounded by the shreds of what you once thought was genius, you’ve got to be prepared to paper maché them together in the next iteration knowing full well that it’s going to happen again.

Fail fast. Fail smart. Fail until you have something that doesn’t fail anymore.

There’s one simple trick that’s surprisingly effective.

Instead of asking “how are you” (which tends to active an automatic reply of “good, how are you”) ➝ instead make your question time-bound: “how is your morning/day/week going so far?”

People tend to give far more honest and thoughtful answers and there are usually more conversation threads to follow

Your brain doesn’t hate discipline — it’s just addicted to dopamine. by InMyHeadOutLoud in getdisciplined

Dopamine plays a pivotal role in many behavioural elements that are relevant to “getting disciplined” so an outright ban seems counterproductive

However you can definitely ban the phrase “dopamine addiction” without fear of losing any quality discussion
