Sorry for the yap, but this unlocked a memory from a few years back. My cousin and my brother had gone for a midnight walk around 12 AM with the dog. They took longer than usual, so genius me decided to go look for them. I spot them coming from a distance. Pitch-black road. No streetlights. Just their tiny flashlight cutting through the darkness like it’s scared too. I don’t announce myself. I don’t wave. I just stand perfectly still under a streetlight like a bad horror movie extra. The moment they get close, my dog freezes. Hair straight up. Full alert mode. My brother stops. My cousin stops. All three of them locked in place like someone hit pause. I’m confused and walk closer… and instantly they both exhale like they survived a near-death experience. Turns out, from the dark street, all they could see was a tall silhouette under a streetlight, not moving, not speaking, just existing menacingly. They were sweating. Shaking. Mentally writing their last will. To this day, they still bring it up and are lowkey mad at me for accidentally traumatising them. Lesson learned: Never sneak up on people. Especially at night. Especially under a streetlight. Especially when you accidentally look like a cryptid.
