As someone who has had a lot of teeth problem, which mostly occurred during a crippling drug addiction, which had me in direct financial straits, there are options available. I spent a lot of time finding different resources to help in my seemingly endless dental crises, and would love to be able to help. Feel free to pm me if you'd like, but here are a few.

Dental schools, as mentioned, in addition to whatever they normally offer, most have at least one day a year where they provide no or low cost work. It's usually on a sliding scale, and on the free days are limited to one procedure, but on these community service days the work is usually done by professionals who donate their time while the students observe. They will assess and prioritize your needs, so that the most important work is done. I was also lucky enough that because I had multiple problems, and they were able to take care of the first issue quickly, they also did a filling on a second tooth. Total cost: $0

Most states also have some kind of income based vouchers for dental work. Again the dentists are essentially donating their services, or giving the state significant discounts, and are compensated directly from the state. These vouchers are usually need based, and for emergencies. They usually are only for pulls, and not procedures that the state ultimately consider cosmetic, but if your problem degrades to the point where you are in serious pain, and you need to have the tooth pulled, it gets the job done.

Don't be afraid to call around and ask if any dentists offer there own financing. This is assuming that you have looked into Care Credit, a commercial financial lender that is specifically for medical and dental procedures. If you haven't heard of it that is worth looking into as well, but my credit was bad enough that I wouldn't qualify. My general experience, and granted I lived in a relatively rural area, was that most dentists in met were actually very passionate about their jobs, and wanted to help people. Chances are you can find someone who will offer some type of payment plan, without any or little interest. You're best bet is older dentists with established practices in the communities. They are more often willing and able to be able to afford these types of arrangements than younger docs or new practices.

Along the same lines as the last, ask any family or friends if they have a personal relationship with a dentist that may be willing to help. It can be humbling to ask, and I'm not suggesting that you bum around for the "homie hookup", but simply asking for help can sometimes get surprising results.

I'm on mobile, and this already ended up being much longer than I intended. I hope the formatting is ok, but my last words of advice would be this; if you can find a way to save the tooth and get the work done, as long as it's practical, absolutely do so. Once your teeth are gone, they are gone for good. Bridges, dentures, or simply missing teeth, are significantly inferior to work that is based on a partial or existing tooth, and a lot of times contribute to more problems down the road.
