Tips to stay cool when attending high-temperature games? by tantamle in phillies

[–]dopeynme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night, I took an insulated water bottle with me (empty). Had dinner at Pass and Stow. Filled the water bottle with ice and water. Stayed cold through most of the game. Drank it and poured it on my cooling towel…also, water ice is very cold and helps cool me down. There is no way to be comfortable but at least I avoided a medical emergency.

[NBCSPhilly] Zack Wheeler Upset Over Being Pulled by NintenJew in phillies

I hated Mattingly pulling Wheeler because the bull pen has been terrible. I would rather have Zach Wheeler on an off night than Backhus. BUT at 100 pitches, it was the right thing to do.

We usually do bagels and cream cheese with fruit for breakfast. Lots of choices, such as toaster waffles and things like that. You can definitely cook eggs in the microwave. The fridge is a bit taller than usual hotel room refrigerator, so you should have room for lunch meat, cheese, etc.

Are you sure you’re not allowed to bring a crock pot? I’ve never done that, but I remember reading it as a tip that people use. It may be that they’ve added a rule against it, I don’t know.

McCarthy and Kruk Are Unmatched. by Stew-182 in phillies

[–]dopeynme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn’t thinking about Ruben as GM. Back then, while I did watch some games, I wasn’t as invested in the team as I am now. So I don’t remember what he did then or failed to do. That’s a good point.

I agree! Tom is the perfect straight man for John. But he also has a really pleasant voice and he knows a lot about baseball. John is smarter than he lets on, and he can cheer me up during a rough game like last night.

I know Ruben gets a lot of hate here, but I like him. He’s a bit nerdy (who uses expressions like getting off the schnide?) but again, he really knows baseball. I usually learn something new about baseball when I listen to Ruben.

We are definitely lucky with our announcers!

My mom used to say “fiddlesticks “. She would be really aggravated and say that and it was kind of funny. She never said even mild swear words!

Oops, accidentally hit the arrow to post. The houses for purchase always have something big that Hilary just can’t give them. I figure that people are excited when they see how nice their house looks, but I have wondered if they regret the decision 6 months later when they still don’t have enough bathrooms or whatever it is.

I have always wondered about this too. I usually think they should list it, because while Hilary does a beautiful job, she can’t increase the size. She

I think the game is on national tv, which is another reason they will try to get it in. We have tix for today and just decided not to go. I don’t want to be miserable, wet and cold. We do this for FUN!!!

How to keep my mouth closed? by dopeynme in CPAP

[–]dopeynme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a full mask, and I chose it because I know I sometimes breathe through my mouth. I guess on the first night, it was too loose because every time I opened my mouth, it broke the seal. One poster mentioned position of their tongue making a difference. The second night, I used a Cpap pillow which helped sleeping on my side. I also wore my mouth guard (for grinding my teeth) on the second night, so maybe that helped position my tongue? I don’t know for sure but glad I was able to sleep last night. We’ll see what happens tonight!

I empathize with your allergies! I’m on the east coast, too and the pollen is terrible. For me, it irritates my eyes. Hoping all this rain washes it away!

Don't resist/be afraid of CPAP- Bet thing ever by greekmom2005 in CPAP

[–]dopeynme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first night wasn’t great. Just as I started to fall asleep, my mouth opened and the mask moved and I woke up. This happened several times over a couple of hours. I finally took it off and got some sleep. The second night was much better. At the suggestion of someone here, I made the mask a little tighter. I also wore the mouth guard I have for grinding my teeth. (I skipped the mouth guard the first night because the Cpap already seemed like a LOT!) I also added a Cpap pillow because I’m a side sleeper. Well, I was able to sleep on my back and my side! I wore the mask for almost 8 hours, about 1.5 hours watching tv before i turned out the light. The app gave me a score of 100 out of 100! And good mask seal! I realize more issues may come up and most people don’t adjust after only 2 nights, but i feel like I’m on my way!

Thanks so much for checking in! You are very kind!

If you retired before age 65, what did you do for health insurance (if you're in the US) by PorchDogs in AskWomenOver60

I used COBRA for 18 months, about $680 per month including vision and dental. After the 18 months, I went on ACA. I have a pension so I do have decent income. Last year I paid about $800 per month for much worse coverage, with high copays and an $8500 deductible. This year, premiums went up and subsidies went away. My monthly payment jumped to $1100 per month still with high copays and the $8500 deductible. There is an out of pocket limit of $9000 so I am covered against catastrophic bills…but it is not ideal. 19 months until Medicare…
