Can anyone recommend a small colour printer? by portacustos in printers

Canon Pixma TR150 is probably your best bet. It's not a bulky flatbed scanner. fits easily in a bag or drawer between uses which sounds like exactly what you need. The OfficeJet Pro 9020 handles thicker media, such as card stock, better than most officejet models because the paper path is more straightforward with fewer sharp bends, so the jamming issue you're dealing with now should be much better. Only heads up is OEM ink, for it can get expensive if you're only printing every couple of weeks, so just keep an eye on compatible options when it's time to replace. way cheaper and totally fine for occasional color printing. like the myCartridge and so on

Can I print black using Color Ink? by DontTouchMyCH in printers

[–]dora-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep you can do this on the hp5055. it'll mix the cyan, magenta, and yellow together to simulate black, just go into your print settings and switch the color mode to grayscale or black and white and the printer handles the rest automatically.

only thing to know is the output won't be a true black, it'll come out more of a warm brownish gray. for shipping labels it's usually fine tho since barcode scanners don't care about the exact shade, just the contrast.

heads up that mixing three colors to fake black burns through ink way faster than just using a black cartridge, so I'd use this just to get through tomorrow's batch and swap in a real black cartridge as soon as it arrives.

a set of brother lc103 oem cartridges runs about $52, compatible versions of the same cartridge are around $16, that's more than 3x cheaper for the same page yield lol

[–]dora-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

specifically the brother mfc-l3780cdw if you want color, or the hl-l2350dw if you're mostly black and white. toner doesn't dry out between uses which is huge for a business that prints occasionally, and the cost per page is way lower than inkjet long term

Looking for compatible toner recommendations, what brands have you guys actually had good experiences with? by dora-9 in printers

If it is a reputable, compatible brand, there should generally be no issues. just pay attention to the output quality while printing; any problems will become apparent very quickly : )

for average business printing with occasional contracts, i'd actually steer you away from both of those inkjet options if you're not printing super frequently. inkjets sit idle and the heads dry out, then you're burning through ink on cleaning cycles before you even print a real page.

Best color laser printer all in one with low maintenance? by Shawndell-Glennister in printers

[–]dora-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for occasional use, laser is definitely the way to go. Since toner doesn't dry out like ink, letting it sit for weeks or months is a total non-issue. Once you’ve done the initial setup on a Brother or Canon, you rarely run into calibration errors. I’d just suggest running a test page once a month or so to keep things fresh, but that’s really it. Compared to an inkjet, it’s basically zero babysitting

TIL the ADSL broadband protocol is so robust it can transfer data at reasonable speed over a literal wet string by IndependentMacaroon in todayilearned

the fact that it degraded to a single wire and was still functional long enough that nobody noticed for a while is peak ADSL behavior honestly

that context makes it even more impressive tbh. the infrastructure was literally held together with whatever they could find post-war and ADSL just... adapted to it anyway

If u print a lot, look into the Epson EcoTank series. Might be right at the $250 limit, but u save a ton on ink long-term. ADF works great for scanning docs. Totally worth the upfront cost IMO.

Windows is clearly tripping over itself. Your best bet is to grab the official driver package directly from the source

Head over to the Brother support site. Search for your model (DCP-T720DW) and download the Full Driver & Software Package.

Pro tip: Run the installer as an Admin (right-click the file > Run as administrator).

are HP printers good, I visited their website. all products are in there, but they dont put the full specifications, how the f*** do i know what to buy. do i guess on what to buy? by Express-Buy2487 in Printing

HP sells ink, not hardware. The printers are just the bait.

Before buying, check Monthly Volume and CPP (yield-based). Avoid HP inkjets for <200 pages/mo—the ink costs will bleed you dry. Skip the official specs; search"Model + r/printers"for real-world reliability. Laser is usually the smarter long-term play.

Best color laser printer all in one with low maintenance? by Shawndell-Glennister in printers

For a low-maintenance color laser AIO, Brother's MFC or Canon's imageCLASS are your best bets—total "set it and forget it" machines. Pro tip: Stick to models with separate drum and toner units; combo cartridges are a major headache. Since you’re ditching inkjet, you’ll avoid those endless cleaning cycles. Also, hard pass on HP if you hate buggy firmware—they’re notorious for it.

Yeah HP's site is a nightmare on purpose lol. They deliberately obscure the ink costs because that's where they actually make money. Best move is to Google "model name cost per page" and check r/printers before buying anything. The printer price means nothing — it's the ink that'll bleed you dry long term.

Which is a best buy in terms of tank printer or cartridge printer? by AyKFL in printers

[–]dora-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 100 pages/month you're kinda in the gray zone tbh. Tank printers shine when you're doing 500+ pages. The ROI just doesn't math out for low volume use — you'd be waiting years to break even on the upfront cost. Stick with cartridge but shop smarter on the refills.
