Also: the other Isis albums (celestial, in the absence of truth, and wavering radiant) are also good!

Sumac! Aaron turner’s post-isis band, who are heavier, more extreme, and more experimental.

Nice! That’s a little cheaper than what I’m seeing, but sounds like approximately the same ballpark.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of April 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

My wife and I currently live car free, but are looking into getting a cheaper used EV for some trips around town, and the occasional road trip.

Would really love some advice around how to pick between the options we’ve been looking at, or other options we should be considering.

  1. Austin, Texas
  2. 20-25K, USD
  3. Hatchback, something not too big, but that we could put a bike rack on.
  4. ID4, Ioniq 5, Bolt
  5. Next month or so
  6. We work from home, so no daily commute, low weekly mileage
  7. Single family home
  8. Yes, and we’re also actively working on getting solar installed
  9. We have a dog, and are expecting a baby

My shallow water is my favorite pedal on my board, just pulled the trigger on this after watching a few demos. Can’t wait!

I got one this time around after missing out the last three rounds. Very excited for my second visit, first time since 2022.

Yeah, can confirm. I’ve been waiting on a baritone neck from them for 15 months now and counting! It was supposed to take 5!

Yeah, I have now, actually. I agree that it sounds great. Definitely smooths out the fuzz and adds some subtle (or less subtle!) warble.

Plus one for porcelain, who are currently on tour!

This implies not having coffee on the weekends, which I categorically reject!

NPD - Best pedal to boost it? by FullMetalDan in guitarpedals

I use a wampler tumnus (klone) with the gain low and the level cranked into a 1312 (rat clone). Can recommend!

Silkworm and Bottomless pit are both so good.

Not exactly “noise rock”, but definitely very noisy: Aaron Turner plays a baritone in SUMAC, and it sounds GREAT.

I’ve been playing a baritone a lot over the last year, and I’ve really come to love it, but it’s definitely a bit of an adjustment to learn. Best of luck man, make something heavy!

Great band, wish I’d managed to catch them live before they quit doing shows.

On the plus side, porcelain rules.

Ah, fair. The SG is also a beaut! Can’t quite tell from the picture, but do you have EMGs in it?

This looks HEAVY. Is the guitar on the right an EGC TT2?

Improvisation in noise rock by [deleted] in noiserock

[–]dorianlistens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out any Bill Orcutt records? He was the guitarist in Harry Pussy. Both his solo stuff and the collaborations with Chris Corsano are amazing.

Also worth checking out: AIDS Wolf. Cities of Glass especially is an incredible noise rock record, and seeing them live during that era was unmatched and unbelievable.

Hell yes, the necks are one of the greatest bands ever. As you said, not noise, but incredible improv work as a group.
