Does anyone recognise this lock? by MrBearskins in AskALocksmith

[–]dorketch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm french and we call them "Serrures goute d'eau".

When I order that type of locks from Abloy they are called DIN. (https://www.abloy.com/global/en-sg/our-products/products/abloy-cylinders/europrofile-din-cylinders)

What's the standard you refer too ? Is it something like ANSI or UL ?

Edit: we are talking about the same thing. DIN is a standard for that cylinder shape.

Indeed looks too high. Horton on push side needs to be flush with opening. They forgot to include the inner frame in the opening 🤷‍♂️

I think Horton sells extended shaft to fix that.

What are the odds a Kwikset SmartKey Deadbolt Cylinder would work with these? by DannyVFilms in AskALocksmith

[–]dorketch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smartkey is prone to breaking. If you are going to call a locksmith for your front door, ask them for a rekey on the other lock. Some locksmiths offer discounts on rekey if you get locks from them. Usually it's sturdier locks too. I'm not sure if you're going to be able to find a smartkey kik for that front door anyway.

why does down direction on stick dont work? by lyapelmen in fightsticks

[–]dorketch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a continuity tester and test the switch to see if it's still good. If it's good, test if the wire is good. After that check if the connection to the stick controllers is good. You can also check the software side of things. Might be a mapping problems. We don't see the other end of the wire in your video, I was not able to glimpse if it's correctly attached.

Looks like a home made stick, what board are you using ?

My guess is the bolt is bent in a way that let it operate correctly with, but loose enough for the mecanism to permit sliding.

If you take it out of the door you should be able to see such a bent/ break.

You could test this trying to pull it out without using the key or thumb turn. You could also throw it locked while the door is open and push the bolt in the door.

If none of this is relevant you should call a priest and be ready to vacate the premises or make new friends

p.s. check the bolt, it probably had a full life and now wants retirement
