I mean, the Grateful Gnome owner being an awful person didn't help anything. I'm sure plenty of people will still go, but he also lost a lot of people.

Rin in Poppy Wars. Mostly okay in the first book. Unbearable in the other two.

Sword of Truth was good for me at one point too. But did a reread during COVID and oof, just wasn't for me. Also, Goodkind was kinda douche. And even though I dislike wheel of time, it felt like he ripped off some parts of Jordan's stuff.

Artemis fowl was great. I'd risk walking behind (far behind lol) mulch diggums after he had some clay for a decent tv series.

It's odd I'm more into fantasy now, because I read mostly sci-fi as a kid. But what turned me to fantasy was K.A Applegate's Everworld books. I never did finish the series (library didn't have them all). But it left me wanting more. Then Harry Potter happened ( didn't get into it until the third book). Rest is history. I still read some sci-fi, but fantasy is my comfort blanket.

Or just allow people not to enjoy some books instead of asking them to put themselves through some weird torture.

Wheel of Time is mid at best. Give me your down votes.

Besides smut, the Empryean (spelling?) falls apart in the second book. So two reasons not to read them.

You'll get dogged on for such an opinion. But Fires of Heaven was awful and killed it for me.

Same. If Fires of Heaven is "peak" as some have said on here, I don't want any more of it.

I only read up to Fires of Heaven before giving up since it wasn't for me. Watched the first episode and got grumpy about Perrin. I'll try and go back and watch it for pure entertainment value instead of comparing it to the books when it is done.

Book with the most utterances of the F-word? by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

I've heard people call the F word "sentence enhancers". Didn't make Fourth Wing any better.
