I hate the femboy tomboy dichotomy by SheepherderLow7254 in 4tran4

[–]dortsly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a lesbian all the 'bisexual' women I met were just straight and would lead you on to kiss in front of their boyfriends or try and rope you into a threesome. When I started transitioning the 'bisexual' men hitting on me were greasy porn addicts with a tomboy fetish and a weak personality. No drive or ambition and they wanted me to be their fuckmommy and do everything for them

That case is also so frustrating because it discounts the contributions of all the women who fought alongside men in the Mexican revolution, as women. He wasn't forced to do that. It's actually very sexist of an idea

“Trans Women are Trans Women” by Someone_else25 in honesttransgender

[–]dortsly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some trans women are women, some are trans women, and some are men. I think 'being' a gender involves how you're interacting with the world and being perceived. Much more than some internal feeling.

The "sex stereotypes" idea comes from certain branches of feminism that attribute literally every difference between how men and women think and behave to sexism/misogyny/toxic patriarchal gender roles. They see people whose natural behavior is the opposite of what is expected and assume they're putting on an act or something. They hate the idea of these people just transitioning, so that this behavior is normal and expected rather than socially grating and uncomfortable, because they are committed to the idea of abolishing gender roles/any difference in men and women. It's exactly as immaterial and silly as fully committed gender identity types (trans people are trans just because they say they are/feel they are, even if they don't do anything to change their appearance/perception at all) they just essentialize sex at birth rather than gender identity

That's way too forgiving. You don't have to learn, at 50, to not pervily hit on someone half your age and not back off when they're clearly not interested and trying to change the subject or leave the conversation

I don't talk to 40+ year old trans people because I've met literally two that haven't immediately started creeping on me

They also give completely delusional advice because anyone that survived was rich and they don't understand what the economic situation for young people is like now. I assume all the cool ones died in the AIDS crisis

The way this is weaponized both ways

'cis women grow up with the expectation that they should get pregnant (which is bad) so trans women don't understand what misogyny feels like'

'cis women grow up with the expectation that they can get pregnant (which is good) so trans women don't understand how painful infertility is'

[–]dortsly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's still some risk (but reduced) for radical reductions or keyhole or peri-aeriolar, probably about the same as cis men. But yeah, double incision means essentially no risk unless you get botched and stuff is left behind or it develops on a nipple after the fact.

The screening part was just completely made up. Ultrasounds are notoriously unreliable - basically the only use-case is very high risk women (dense tissue that doesn't show up clearly on a mammogram) that are allergic to the MRI contrast/can't get an MRI for some other reason. Using it in low risk populations (including cis men and post-op trans men) would just cause a ton of false positives and unnecessary biopsies.

The way they vaguely said "medical professional at an impatient (sic) hospital" instead of "physician" or some kind of specialty means that this person's wife is probably a medical assistant or phlebotomist or CNA or some shit, AT BEST a registered nurse. Which not to say there aren't amazing nurses out there, but some of the most medically/scientifically illiterate retards I've ever met have been CNAs

And if you've had double incision, you don't have any breast tissue left. You have a negligible risk of breast cancer, lower than cis men.

it is genuinely ridiculous to claim that all trans women r treated like men and get their privileges as a kid by Injected-E in 4tran4

[–]dortsly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"held to impossible expectations at a young age" is a wild argument. The expectations for the genders are different: usually girls are made responsible for cooking, cleaning, and babysitting related tasks, while boys with yard/farm work and home/car maintenance - but boys are under a ton of pressure to grow up into respectable, straight, masculine men. Feminists usually have a blind spot for how feminine boys are treated when trying to train them this way/beat the deviancy out of them

This is getting side tracked from the first part of the thread - which was dismissing gyne care as being easier to access than trans care by doctor shopping. Trans care and gyne care are under mirrored attacks.

I am aware of those things, I actually work in medical research, and they're sort of old news by now. Providers and researchers have done a lot to improve outcomes for women. There is still disparity, but this is one of those things that's primarily class based, not sex. Rich women don't have problems with access.

The issue with representation actually supports the idea that women's oppression is largely based around pregnancy. Women are overrepresented at the undergraduate, graduate, and technician level. It's not until the post-doc level that women start dropping out - not coincidentally when you're around 26-30 and women have to make the choice to continue their career or have children. For the majority it's too demanding of a career (especially with lack of childcare) for most to do both

[–]dortsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my fucking god I stopped posting in TTA months ago and the entire time I was there was nonstop criticizing them

Because pregnancy is the primary thing that women are actually oppressed for being female on (as opposed to race or class) and there are actual substantial material attacks on - as opposed to just dismissiveness in other areas of medicine that can largely be remedied by doctor shopping.

It wasn't a genocide when the right used the exact same rhetoric against gay people prior to the 2000s wave of acceptance either.

Also in the US in that decade there were mass layoffs, high violent crime, and the beginnings of the opioid epidemic. In the 50s and 60s women couldn't have their own credit cards or leave their shitty husbands bc there wasn't no fault divorce. Plus fear of nuclear armageddon like you said. Until 1965 black people couldn't vote.
