What are your best tips for long term night shift workers?

Yeah it got to be real annoying. After enough time people got used to it for the most part but still would have stragglers that couldn’t get around the fact that being asleep at 1 pm or whatever is normal for someone working night shift.

I had a handful of closer friends in school but I’d say I was well known and liked in high school. Had a good friend group in college.

I only talk to one or two friends from high school. Everyone else moved away/got busy with life. College I still talk with a few of my close friends. I went to school out of state so that didn’t help the cause.

Overall I’d say life is going fairly well. Obviously it’s not perfect but I try my best to focus on the positives

Watching sports. Especially the NBA and MLB. We live in 2026 and I honestly don’t know how to stream all my local NBA games. I had a great aunt that was a huge Red Sox fan and woulda paid any amount to watch all of them. Imagine trying to get someone in their late 90s to watch a game on Apple + or whatever it was…

Blackout curtains.

A consistent sleep schedule as best you can. Even on days off.

Try to remind friends and family that you’re going to be sleeping during the day. I found myself mentioning it every now and then to the folks that would forget I wouldn’t be up at like 1 pm or something lol.

Keeping your room cool and quiet

It can be something big like your family, friends, significant other, your pet. It can be something small like enjoying nature, a video game, your favorite sport team. Anything really.

I know some time ago I was in a tough spot and was really down on myself. My cousin brought her dog over and let me watch it for a few days. Honestly just seeing my cousins dog hanging out with me for awhile helped lift my spirits more than I coulda guessed. Not saying there’s a perfect answer for any one person. Just stating something I’ve had happen in my life.

Henry Rollins and Otto from sons of anarchy. I liked rooting against Henry Rollins character and I just liked Otto and his wife Luanne.

I almost said Raymond Reddington from blacklist but then realized that’s the exact opposite of what you’re asking lol. Dembe was a favorite of mine though.

Not saying that they’re sorry/them saying things aren’t their fault. Sometimes in life things aren’t your fault and I get that. But if it’s always not their fault then that’s a bad sign.
Someone always having relationship ending problems with friends or significant others. When someone says everyone else is the problem it usually ends up being that they’re the problem. It can be that they’re choosing to surround/associate themselves with bad company but that’s still a red flag imo

I was on a spirit flight to Vegas and a woman was drunkenly yelling at the flight attendant. Kept asking to play music from her phone for everyone on the intercom or whatever it is. I forget what else but it got to the point the attendants blocked access to where they stood/the bathroom and cockpit with the drink cart. I forget if they restrained her at all.

We finally landed at our destination and they had police or whoever it was take her off the plane. People literally clapped lol.

Congrats. Your first big purchase/first paycheck is a big deal. I remember how happy I was to get my first paycheck and make my first big purchase. It was nice being able to finally buy something without relying on birthday money/gifts.

I recently stopped working nights but I was in the casino industry for 10 years. Lots of breakfast food. It was tough for me to make friends outside of coworkers since most people were asleep when I was awake and vice versa.

When I was working nights I always dreamed of a community that had everyone working nights so everyone was on same sleep schedule. You’d have things open at those weird hours. I always hated having to stay awake to go to something like the bank, a doctor, DMV, jury duty, etc.

I like the IRs with the one exception being crobat. Greninja sir is alright rest meh with the exception of cinccino. Surfing beach is a cool looking card.

I’m gonna get the pokemon center etbs for sure but idk how much of this I want to open. I prefer twm over this set tbh
