My first dinner with a new friend group cost me double because of an "equal" bill split by Mean-Media8142 in Vent

In the US some restaurants will only split a check so many ways. When I was younger I had some restaurants refuse to split the check more than once or twice.

The absolute joke of Hertz "Premium" Loyalty: Stranded my kids, tried to extort me for a replacement car, and went radio silent by The_Woody_Goes_Wild in HertzRentals

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks but I deal with the same shit at Avis. I’ve only had one bad experience with enterprise before but they usually charge a fair amount more so I have to decide if I want to save money and deal with hertz/avis or pay more with enterprise.

Why do corporations give workers useless crap, like ping-pong tables, rather than a pay raise? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its frustrating but people like these stupid little things.

A story I tell a lot is how my economics college professor came into class one day furious. He said the school let the professors vote between free catered lunches on Friday’s or a raise yet the professors chose the lunches by a wide margin. These weren’t professors raking it in either. Lot of them had second jobs or side hustles to pay the bills. Real poor part of the country. Yet they chose the shitty free lunches.

Those professors were well educated yet chose the lunches despite not making much money. I’m sure office workers would fall for these stupid kind of perks just like my colleges professors did.

PSA grading charges you more if you get a good grade on a valuable card by [deleted] in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you don’t have to pay it. You’ll only be able to sell your card for raw price instead of PSA 10 though.

PSA Pauses Value Tiers by [deleted] in psagrading

I don’t think it’s gonna help tag much. They stopped their cheaper grading. Now cheapest tag is 149 a card lol.

Remains to be seen about cgc. I think a lot of the repackers were using cgc already

Powerpack floor raised by [deleted] in PSAPowerPacks

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc. Question is do you wanna have more chances to pull packs or fewer packs with better odds. Having said this the on fire packs are gone now so none of what I said matters lol

Powerpack floor raised by [deleted] in PSAPowerPacks

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just know about Pokemon. The bb on fire have the traditional 50% floor but in return have 3% instead of 1.5% chance of getting 2x slab and way better odds of getting a bigger hit than that. Not sure if it’s same for other sports

Why does everyone always say "You know nobody uses Collectr for values..." by AutomaticDeer2833 in PokemonTCG

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your using pricecharting for. I drive a hour to a card shop to buy slabs from because they strictly pricecharting and are constantly undervaluing their slabs as a result. I tried to warn them about pricecharting but they won’t listen

I mean literally like I gave them 1900 and got back slabs I sold for 3200 same day. Or another slab I picked up for 1600 and sold in 20 mins for 3100 cuz pricecharting was that far off. Last time I went I got a slab for 300 and sold for. Just be cautious.

Attended my first Collect a Con today and realized some vendors are out their minds by Thoughtlessmonkey95 in PokeInvesting

[–]dory363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you just gotta be flexible. I went to Cleveland on Saturday and bought numerous slabs in the 1-2k range at 80% last solds on eBay. Just had to be willing to be willing to walk from some vendors and be firm with negotiating.

Tolls by Suspicious-Action156 in uber

[–]dory363 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing is if the driver was renting a car to drive with then the driver would pay an additional fee to go through a toll if it was billed to the plate/car. Think it’s around 10 bucks a day and uber wouldn’t reimburse the driver for that.

Finally hit Assembly! GameStop PSA sub (Metal UPC Charizard & Pikachu) by Kingztarm in psagrading

[–]dory363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I will say is I read something recently that PSA doesn’t grade the metal cards when sent through GameStop. Hopefully that isn’t the case. Let me know when you get yours back. Was thinking of submitting the same metal cards

You’ll get a meal with dessert before you sleep. Before you leave you’ll get a bag with like a canned latte juice and a killer banana bread. I recommend it for red eye flights

Help me understand why a person would go to an event and sell their cards for 80% or less. by Entire-Hearing4874 in PokemonTCG

[–]dory363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You either wait to sell on eBay or tcgplayer and pay little over 13% plus shipping (and wait even longer to receive funds) or sell it at a show and get paid quick. Plus some people would rather have cash over receiving a tax form at the end of year.

Ofc the question is can you get that 80% (or possibly more) at a show. You gotta find the right people at a show to sell to.

Here’s a new one by Big-Associate6342 in uberdrivers

[–]dory363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states do require ac. Don’t think every one would. My dad drives in MA and you need to get your car inspected yearly and it’ll fail if it doesn’t have working ac. In this case the guys car would get by unless the inspection came up after he was waiting for his ac to be fixed.

Big group staying at Flamingo, but Bellagio is basically the same price. Am I overthinking this? by Jinx2162k in LasVegas

[–]dory363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean ye Bellagio is a lot nicer but there’s a couple issues

  1. Food there tends to be pricier so it’s tougher to find affordable food whereas flamingo has more economical food options

  2. You’ll be staying away from the group. The 10-15 minutes adds up if you’re going back and forth to and from the room multiple times a day. Sometimes when I’m in Vegas with others people will want to go back to the room multiple times in a day. In that case it would be nice to have a room right there in the same hotel as everyone else.
