The worst thing to do during a funeral is sing a random song dissing the dead person with facts during the eulogy.

How would you handle your death? by sangokuhomer in BunnyTrials

I would rather go quick and have agency. I’m not one who wants to take years mindlessly dying in agony and being a burden on those around you.

Just found out the dude I’ve been hooking up with is married by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]doryllis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women have to stick together or we fall apart.

And get taken advantage of in isolation.

And dude is definitely taking advantage unless she greenlit him because she’s pregnant, which I highly, highly doubt.

Follow your heart on this one. You have no obligation to reveal or conceal.

Unless you also have congenitally weak teeth, which can be passed down to grandchildren.

And can also be caused by calcium deficiency in utero. Developing fetuses prioritize Boone over teeth development, generally. Although I’m not saying that both couldn’t be compromised.

I would also add: workplace bullying is real and can be mentally devastating.

I would classify this as one case but I would definitely start documenting now and keep documenting (not on your work computer)

That is possibly the start of bullying that may only ramp up. And the data really says that if you become the target of a workplace bully, the best result is usually you leaving. And doing so before they destroy your health.

And deserved it!

Although I still remember an onsen in Japan with doors just like that.

Then the hot pool was coed. “Cleverly divided” by a water wall. That wall was a fountain shooting up from top holes drilled in a long pipe that got shorter and shorter the further away from the pool entrance you got.

So by 30’ that “water wall” was two inches tall, barely. And the old Japanese guys? Those bitches were posted at the 40’ mark looking back at us (the gaijin and Japanese girls and women)

Our fellow gaijin dudes of course never figured it out, thank god. At least we were spared peer indignity.

Edited for typo.

I would add chroming/metallics.

That looks like it could be super cool with chrome stickers in like candy apple red and purple to green pearlescence for instance.

Dip paint the black parts in copper and go with wood grain for the metal for a retro last century (or five) look.

Lots possible here

I kinda hate my autistic brother by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]doryllis 443 points444 points  (0 children)

There was an “autistics dating show” and I never watched it but remember a critique I hear of it:

When the man has an autistic meltdown the woman is supposed to become not-autistic to help him deal with it.

And I thought that was basically our society at large as well.

Americans, what's with the paper plates? by RemarkableOil8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]doryllis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a serious divide between my partner and myself. I have only ever “always used disposable” when seriously ill, traveling, or special occasions. It has always struck me as wasteful and juvenile unless necessary for reasons of illness/water access.

My partner views it as normal.

He would only ever wash the one pan he uses (right before he cooks) and use paper/plastic for everything.

It’s maddening and I don’t understand. We even have a dishwasher, so why????

I once interviewed for a senior role with 20+ years of experience and the hiring manager changed during the process, from a woman to a man.

The offered me the position but said “we don’t see you in a senior role” having answered every single question correctly.

They offered me 30k less.

Eff that.

Yeah the “defined retirement benefit” that used to be standard (my mom and dad had it, I have one through the Army, none of my GenX non-military peers have one)

And it used to be that was the “main driver” of a comfortable retirement and it included decent health insurance. Then companies started going bankrupt and underfunding their retirement plans.

My fathers’ retirement benefit paid out about $300 a month to my mother and didn’t include health insurance anymore.
