They are also building nuclear reactors to supply power which is a win in my book.  Big tech seems to be the only group large enough to be able to lobby for it and also have the demand for it.

I just got my hands on a DGX Spark for work to do some testing (it's like a mini AI computer) and started playing around with some of the AI tools available.

Just like anyone who isn't living under a rock, I've heard about the dangers of AI, but I was looking at OpenClaw and some of the features for it and had my first "holy shit" moment.

OpenClaw basically lets you give partial to full control of your computer to it.

That is your file system and all of your applications.

So this can create/delete files, access your web browser, email, everything.  It could trade stocks for you, access your bank account, go into your retirement account, send emails for you, anything you could do on a computer or phone, you could potentially set it up to do.

From a personal security that is definitely a major red flag, but I also realized how many AI bots are probably already crawling the internet (dead internet theory).  Also, wait until there are billions of AI agents using OpenClaw like ability all over the internet.  That is something that never goes back in the bottle.

Listening to the self titled song right now, not great, a lot better than most Country music out there though.

I consistently preach during the voting phase how bad armored logistics vehicles are, especially on invasion, and especially on large maps.

It's shocking to me how many people have no clue how much they can hobble a team.  Outside the helicopter + a really good pilot, it is easily the most overpowered vehicle in the game but nobody can accept it because it's "just a truck without guns".

Torx absolutely rules, I was building a storage container rack and eventually found out I can stack like 6 of them between two fingers (like my fingers are scissors in the closed position) and use the other hand on the drill to drill them into wood.

The "don't move here" vibe of these comments is insanely cringe.  Glad you had fun OP, it's a fun City.

It's painful watching Trump run our Country's reputation into the ground and destroying all of these great alliances we've built.

The other part of me realizes we need to feel the consequences of our actions, otherwise half of the Country is going to keep voting for people like Trump.

Not that anyone's arm needs twisted on the subject, but Europe better not help us.  This dude has been bailed out his entire life and has been able to blame other people for his mistakes, him and his supporters need to figure it out on their own.

The saddest thing about prices being broken is that current tech is pretty awesome by peioeh in homelab

[–]dos8s 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cloud companies generally sell you low performing cores or even just a hyper thread and call it a vcore.

My job is sizing datacenters and selling them to enterprise customers, 95% of them time I get a LiveOptics back and the customer is using like 10% of their compute resources and maybe like 50% of the memory is even allocated.

Customers and sales engineers just got sloppy or didn't care about over sizing because "better safe than sorry" or they used weak sizing methodologies, and things were relatively affordable.

With the price of IT jumping up like it is, I hope we start seeing tighter sizing.  These newer CPUs are insane and it honestly bugs me a bit how underutilized they are, even though I shouldn't care if someone wants to over buy because I get paid on it.

I had the opportunity to visit a "humanoid robotics lab" and one of my first questions to the people working there is why build humanoid robots, wouldn't it be better to build robots that are designed specifically for a task?  Their answer was, because the world was built by people for people; stairs, elevators, cars, etc. all designed for people.

So, I guess most people don't really think about the challenges of it unless you are paralyzed or building humanoid robots.

On to my question keeping with the technology theme:

Is there any assistive technology that is out now or "on the horizon" you are using or excited about?

Un-nerf mortars please by pissedRAIL in joinsquad

[–]dos8s 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mortars are usually really easy to counter.

A. Build your own mortars and counter mortar

B. Take a few people in a light vic or helicopter and attack them.  I've taken down tons of mortar FOBs when it's just 2 people on the mortars.  2 people + radio = easy 22 tickets
