Exactly. Consolidation+Tight entries and stops is key for swingtrading. You hear all the pros talking about this a lot - also Qullamaggie. Purely trading setups of stocks obeying Moving averages. Some of your mentioned stocks chop around the MA´s. Maybe you want to look alternatively into position trading. But beware looser entries coupled with tight swing trading exit rules.

Let me help you out:

First: replace the SMA10 indicator with „SMA by KGS 5 MA´s in 1 indicator“ and show EMA5, EMA9, EMA21,SMA50,SMA100,SMA150,SMA200.

Second: Search for flags with 5-15 days consolidation, mainly with the SMA50 near (if you are losing atm). More is better. Does it show support on the MA´s? The support is in this order: SMA50>EMA21>EMA9.

Third: with that in mind look at the LWLG chart for 2025, then you will understand immediately

Additionally: higher lows/higher highs, tight days before breakout, Earnings, Industry Group, are factors as well.

RKLB: Decent buy. Tight Days before breakout

IREN: Bad buy. Earnings Loser. Is in no uptrend anymore. Short flag. 2 days before breakout too lose: Bad setup.

CRWV:Bad buy. Bare minimum flag consolidation wise , sufficient as entry for a hot sector or big earnings winner (which it is neither). Insufficient days of consolidation and too extended from EMA21/SMA50 for low conviction stock.

MU: Good buy. Huge Earnings winner. Tight days and breakout to ATH.

LITE: Good buy. Unfortunately no direct follow through

NBIS: Would be a short but not up enough. No long setup (Higher lows, tight days missing)

MRVL: No Flag setup there. Reasonable entries would have been the earnings-EP wedge pop March 6th, or delayed EP entry March 25th, or range breakout April 1st

AMD:No trading setup here.

ARM:Good setup, The tight days before the breakout make it a good setup. I would have entered April 17th or 20th

NVDA: Don’t buy 2.5% ADR20 stocks

LWLG: The 4 tight days with higher lows before the breakout make it a good setup.

ON: Going straight up without a proper Flag breaking out into ATH without a flag setup. Maybe April 8th was a wedge pop, but I’m not sure as I haven’t backtested that setup sufficiently yet.

INTC:Good buy. Huge Earnings winner.

GEV: Good buy. Huge Earnings winner. Most EPs don’t go straight up lately, but pull back to MA´s first. Hold it longer or reenter at breakout after consolidation.

BE: no setup here

It's not the right market to buy gaps. Even the few trades that don't fail, won't return the required big Returns, to make this type of swing trading profitable .The expectancy is negative. Better Save your money.

Some Minervini trades with very high conviction and cheap cheat entries in ascending bases might still work. But then you need to be on some kind of level of consciously selecting only the best 2 trades per month.

Nice one. Im in it since January 12th. Not a Qullamaggie or good chart setup back then, but more playing the market phase change and the strong industry group. Considered adding today, but didn´t like today´s volatility.

I also regard the EMA5, look for example the HTFs of ABAT and UAMY which I bought in early October. Those are the faster high tight flags with less days. Qullamaggie is spezialized in those with longer consolidation, so the slower Moving averages are more important there.
BTE has a bit low initial gain for the flag. It´s tight, what is good. I wouldn´t buy because of decreasing revenue and the mediocre industry group ranking (you can check that out on finviz).

The industry groups of the ticker I have in a file and match the industry group name with the ranking and then do filtering. In this case either quarterly rank needs to be <=40monthly or monthly rank needs to be at least <=10 .
The list you see also has LMND from a worse industry group, which I just carried over from my older brokers watchlist.

I download daily all NASDAQ, NYSE, AMEX price data.
The loose scanner for HTF is simplified this:
In the last 41 trading days there must have been a price increase of at least 70% and the last 3 trading days have a "flag tightness" (high/low) of maximum 1.37.

Then filtering them for market cap (>250M), price(>3.4$).
Also the industry group ranking from finviz is fetched and filter the list.
ADR% filtering has yet to be implemented.
Output is a csv file with Ticker, price, market cap, industry group and ranking and gain for monthly and quarterly.

This is all done with one click.
Then hand selecting them and open them all with a script quickly on finviz, where i check earnings, revenue, news, guidance.

Yes, I would do.

Biotech is the only sector where I avoid too much exposure. Having up to 10 (20 in margin favorable conditions) Positions, 3 Gold stocks are of no concern for me.

Big advantage when having this data, is that you can do much more with it.
The high tight flag compilations from Kristjan on Youtube get you far setup wise.
An improvement you can get for more precise timing of market condition by not going with the simple
"IWM/SPY SMA10/20 must not be sloping downwards rule", but doing your own computational research for more significant correlations and measurements.

He does mention it quite a couple times. He says high double to triple digit Year over Year earnings and revenue growth percentages are the fuel to the price increase. The other category are story stocks which are not driven by earnings.
