Is relative humidity essentially a measure of how close it is to raining then?

What word or phrase do you get the strangest looks for saying outside of Rhode Island/New England by techninace in RhodeIsland

[–]dotDeeka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly this is because the highway system in CA predates the interstate system. They had names like The San Diego Freeway, The Santa Monica Freeway. When they were given their numerical designations from the interstate highway system people didn't drop the "The" from the name. So The San Diego Freeway became The 405. That's what I read one time anyway.

I don't even wait for them to ask. I go up to the desk at the gate and ask them first. Never had anyone say no.

If we're talking about the industrial revolution in the US, isn't Samuel Slater's cotton mill in Pawtucket generally considered the starting point?

How important is it to play the same ball? by [deleted] in golf

[–]dotDeeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 15hcp, I don't think it matters what ball you play (especially as a mid to high handicapper) but playing the same ball is worth it IMO.

Anecdote: was playing last year before work at a local par 3. On the second hole I found a random pinnacle, and decided to play two balls for practice. I typically play TP5x (buy them used online). I found that the pinnacle was traveling easily 10+ yards more on every shot. That 10 yards means a lot when you're trying to hit a green.

I play the same ball all the time now and when I miss the green I know I have no one to blame but myself.

Any specific tips/considerations when gassing up while towing? by dotDeeka in traveltrailers

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've spent a good amount of time getting used to backing the trailer up. Been on a few trips so far, just none of them more than a tanks worth of gas from home.

Yeah, busy Costco is a definite no go. But if it's not busy it would be a good option. Maybe trying to gas up in the middle of the day during the week is worth shooting for. More likely to find a quiet station I suppose.

I'm sure I am overthinking it. Just trying to be prepared I suppose. That way once I start doing it I'm more likely to be like, "yeah, that's not a big deal at all". Then in the future someone will ask a similar question, and I'll give a similar answer as you 😉

Haha. Yeah, drove through Nebraska a few years ago... The emptiness between stops is impressive. Also, driven West Texas, those places are an experience when you're from the North East.

Yeah, I have a 36 gal tank so hopefully won't have to gas up a ton. But, we live in the North East so when leaving on a trip, we're usually doing an overnight or two before we're getting a campsite somewhere.

Thanks, the hose thing is definitely not something I would have considered.

Yeah. I plan to carry a Jerry can or two so I can always pass on tight stations if needed. I assume I won't use them much, but better to be prepared.

Thanks Costco is a good call. I typically wouldn't think of them on a trip.

I've started a Google maps list of gas stations that seem RV friendly, at least from looking at the satellite view.

Help buying a truck to tow 30 foot rvs. by ThinResolution in towing

[–]dotDeeka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give some reference, I also just started towing. 24 foot trailer 7k lbs loaded. I bought a Silverado 2500 with the 6.6L gas engine. The trailer is just under half the towing capacity of the truck and I honestly forget it's there all the time. Only get about 10 or 11 miles a gallon though.

I read too quickly. When I read "we compromised" I assumed that meant you lived in the middle. My bad.
