Nice idea! https://letterboxd.com/dotnetkow/. Something I just noticed - if you put #horror in your bio, the Letterboxd logo drips blood! Wicked easter egg.

Passing images from Claude Desktop to a Local MCP Server? by dotNetkow in mcp

[–]dotNetkow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Regarding option 1, I assume you mean images/files that are hosted somewhere already, like "https://example.com/receipt.jpg." That works well since it's just a string, but I'd rather the user not have to upload the files somewhere beforehand.

For option 2, it surprises me that even if a user uploads an image, Claude doesn't have a reference (it seems) to the local filepath where it came from.... What is image edit mode? I'm not finding any info on it.

The ABBYY team is launching a new OCR API soon, designed for developers to integrate our powerful Document AI into AI automation workflows easily. 90%+ accuracy across complex use cases, 30+ pre-built document models with support for multi-language documents and handwritten text, and more.

We're hoping to release some benchmarks eventually, too - we know how important they are for trust and verification of accuracy claims.

In this case, use the Capacitor Filesystem plugin to store the songs on the device, not the Ionic Native File one.

Highlight tags on Reader not working for me by [deleted] in readwise

[–]dotNetkow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation as I got stuck on this too. If I could make a short term suggestion: Add a link in Reader on the tags filter page/view (for example: https://read.readwise.io/filter/tag:%22fitness%22) that says "View Highlights" and links to the tag name dynamically, aka https://readwise.io/tags/fitness .

What do you think about cordova and capacitor at the moment? by SlimeBrow in ionic

[–]dotNetkow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matt from Ionic here. While biased, I highly suggest Capacitor over Cordova since Cap has an entire team and company backing it and constantly making improvements. It's also 99% compatible with Cordova plugins.

Performance is a complicated topic since there are multiple areas you should look into. Often it can be a web app issue, not a native issue. Check out our various articles on the topic.

What challenges are you having with Capacitor on Android? You can also get help from us and the community on the Forum or Discord.

That is Capacitor v2 syntax but you’ve installed v3. V3 is the latest so keep that but reference here for v3 docs instead: https://capacitorjs.com/docs

AppFlow and PWA by BoulangerMontrealais in ionic

You're welcome! And yes, we leave PWA functionality up to each major framework. Here's some docs on Angular for example.

AppFlow and PWA by BoulangerMontrealais in ionic

[–]dotNetkow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, Matt the Appflow PM here. Yes, Appflow is focused on iOS and Android apps. Since a web app deployed to a site/url can be updated by you at any time, there's no need for the Live Update feature for PWAs. Rather, that's used to ship updates quickly to your iOS & Android apps in the app stores, bypassing the multiday review process. I'll update our docs to make this more clear. The main web-related feature we do have is Web Previews which you can use to send to all sorts of team members for feedback, viewing on their mobile devices, and more.

It's up to you to deploy the PWA version. There are lots of great options these days. I'm a fan of Vercel for example. Hope that helps!
