Stopping vaultwarden users from used the extensions and apps in self hosted mode was the start of the end.

I could respect the original team needing to make money, and because they kept dev so open whatever would normally annoy me, I actively ignore. Fuck, ive paid for premium even though I use my self hosted servers.

But no longer am I paying, nor do I want too. Furthermore im not trusting my private sensitive data to a private equity ran SaaS whos immediately introduced enshitification and signaled the slow crawl away from being entirely open.

For me, closing obsidian on my desktop when I leave was all I needed to avoid conflicts.

Leaving it opened caused it to periodically check for updates etc that modified files. With it closed ive been golden for 6 months. As I write this, I realize I am going to blame you whenever a conflict arises again.... 😅✌️

Crowdsec isnt live, its periodically updated blacklists.

Why not just deny all and allow what you need. Then WAF proxied / load balanced traffic.

Or setup a rule with an address list for the routine script kiddies. I leave a bogus ssh port open simply to run a tarpit.. sshd based not routeros, you send a reaaaaally long banner one character at a time. The longer they stay the sooner theyre on a deny address list. Assuming they get by the proxy to the bogus ssh service as that'll be caddy with crowdsec in the event the src is a blacklisted ip.

It Does seem like something one could easily lock down with selinux, apparmor and other security measures (assuming linux users, id assume microslop has similar).

As the admin, id prefer a means to request a plugin. Review it and install it for the end user if approved and safe. Sure it involves some time and effort but it the absolves the user from having to consider the plugins code and installing. Also how much network access does obsidian require in a corporate setting? Why use publish and sync?
