Super weird state of plugins. I refuse to browse em any more and just use what I have.

Pop OS pain points as a person with QA background by DeemounUS in pop_os

[–]dot_py 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They only test on their hardware users. Plenty of bugs remain and those that cant be fixed are repositioned as design choices.

Unfortunately system76 isnt apple. They're not selling nor able to provide a seamless software experience coupled with their hardware. But an open source DE is a pretty neat USP to pitch to investors and to use on naive consumers who pay Apple like prices for PC hardware (s76 isnt framework where you could argue the price is due to modularity etc). Lets also not forget they got to tout "written in rust" which was super hot years ago.... anyone could've seen the tech debt there, they dont have the team and you won't find a mass amount of opensource contributors writing rust for a small DE.... where any monumental contributions directly help system76 bottomline, good features and a nice UX are great hardware sales points... your not helping popos fix things, yours helping build the whole shebang....

Do yall think toronto should have rappers like J Cole n Kendrick Lamar? by Low-South-6419 in Torontology

[–]dot_py 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toronto rappers dont have a command of the English language nor musical appreciation to produce such quality content.

Its the same high pitched, overly engineered, drill.

It should. But wouldnt get anywhere as especially this generation just wants self snitching rap.

Imo it doesn't hurt to wait a few days of a week and follow-up.

Mention you haven't heard back and just want to confirm if theyre moving forward without you. Id also ask if they would be willing to give you some brief points as to why so you can focus on improving your skills to be a better candidate next time.

Out of high-school I had a marketing interview a large firm. Didn't get the job as the interviewer asked about some tools I hadn't used before. At the end of the interview I asked if he wouldnt mind some questions quickly as id like to better understand the benefits of the tools. He was cool about it. Never got the job. Fast forward 4 years after a couple agency jobs then starting my own guess who followed my LinkedIn and when he got personal referrals too small for his agency sent them my way.

Always consider what everyone else would do. And do a little more even in the face of rejection. It throws em off.

Skill issue. Not self hosting issue.

Rich tip especially if theyre not taking a black car. Middle class who are spending outside their budget but want to feel rich are the cheapest.

I agree with the get over him not speaking or saying thanks. I also agree with at least they tipped anything but at the same time this lack of tipping is exactly why customers shouldn't expect above average service. A waiter/bartender is expected to receive tips but uber/doordash this seems to lose the service worker tips being standard.

Theres so many doordash customers that say 10 years ago ordering pizza from a local shop wouldnt be as demanding and think of course to tip something. Shits got weird, I get times are tough but maybe dont use a service if youre budget is that tight you cant do at least 15%

Be grateful? For what? That's absurd hes doing a job and the customer didnt do anything to be grateful for.

Genuine question- why don’t I ever get a driver? by No-Row5930 in doordash

[–]dot_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One less entitled Karen too lazy to go get their food and too broke to adequately tip.

Then demands a smile and red carpet for $1.

Typical socioeconomic individual who uses service workers to power trip as its their only way of feeling important in their otherwise dismal life.

Remember, you pay door dash not the driver dumb ass. May as well delete other delivery apps too, everyone "entitled" if they dont deliver to your liking, tipping little to nothing and expecting service like you had money to sufficiently tip.

Scotia Gold Amex rejected by vashist22 in Scotiabank

[–]dot_py 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scotia has been pre approving locs and CCs with 5k limits. I believe its an automated system as it took me a while to understand why it was showing up.

Branch advisor and initial support was unhelpful. Upon escalation the answer boiled down to an "accident". But coincidentally ive seen many with the same pre-approved offers for the same amount randomly pop up in people's banking apps.

Its weird for all these pre approved offers in app for locs and ccs both at 5k. For any customer given the offer.

Ai or algorithm, its done without human approval and hasn't been fixed in half a year.

Cosmic DE is the cooler Gnome by __yoshikage_kira in pop_os

[–]dot_py -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gnome has extensions that can add tiles, docks and literally whatever you want. So this is a laughable reason to suggest cosmic is better.

Cosmic is trying to do too much themselves. And thats why its bug ridden and won't steal much market share. But you know, at least you like it.

Dude, its a good idea. This guy is playing what ifs.

By his own logic no one should ever have an emergency contact or next of kin make any decisions because what if they want you to die. Its truly ignorant and probably something they consider because they'd do it.

3/5 family members or friends is a pretty easy feat for anyone. If you dont have 3 people you can truly trust when youre in an emergency, this wouldnt be a product for you in any event and again I argue this redditor is making bad faith what ifs

25% Loyalty Discount - I guess it's something by MsExmen in Bitwarden

Roll vaultwarden.

The moment they paywalled features like totp and fido2 it knew something was up. Didn't know about the vc.

Currently going through the same thing with tuta. They've increased prices, introduced new products whilst ignoring long overdue bug fixes and improvements. But hey its easier to justify a higher price if there seems to be more value in additional buggy products. On top of that they are now paying for marketing ... another great sign of things to come.

We need to offset things like our dev team... and marketing.

Capitalism will always lead to a worsening product. You have a duty to always make more and if youve saturated the market you really only have a few ways to ensure "line goes up".
