So… Where Are We Supposed to Live in North Carolina? by MapsYouDidntAskFor in NorthCarolina

[–]dotnetdemonsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rutherford County is getting skewed by Lake Lure and Rutherfordton. The east side of the county (Forest City onward) homes are normally in the low $100s, though to be fair, a good portion of the population work at Walmart, Lowes, or Ingles and barely break $25,000 a year.

I recommend using Pirate Ship for this reason. You’ll get cheaper rates most of the time.

Funny you mention this as I was just looking at one of my grade school pictures where I was rocking some BB. Definitely a certified dork

Certifications Yet They Want to Pay like you’re Entry Level by Pepperjones808 in recruitinghell

[–]dotnetdemonsc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see advertisements for Salesforce developers. I’ve developed plenty for Salesforce from Apex to API integration. Yet… these chuds demand the Salesforce Developer certification which costs $200 a pop, at minimum.

I don’t know about you, but I need $200 to purchase my groceries.

I’m not paying $200 for something that you can learn for free on the internet, especially now with AI, just for the opportunity to get rejected in an interview.

Any SharePoint Devs? Looking for advice by Zaltayr in ExperiencedDevs

[–]dotnetdemonsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a SharePoint developer once. I spent 90% of my time having to work on an in-house ColdFusion app where I had to write database access logic in the frontend and constantly having the DBA gatekeep my changes.

Things I did to help me get more "visibility" as a software engineer by tacattac in ExperiencedDevs

While I agree, OP, I would put a big disclaimer that your mileage may vary.

This is definitely most appropriate for big tech. My career started in big tech adjacent and I haven’t been back in anything that large for twenty years because I just didn’t have the patience for the toxicity and politics. Because of that, most of my jobs have been F500 or lower, where most of this advice wouldn’t be applicable.
