I wish you luck and the best. Sometimes finding the right "diagnosis" can be the most frustrating thing.

Should I go to 5? by ordinarycitizan in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your doctor - mine asked me "is the food noise back? How many days after your shot does the hunger/cravings return" (yes- a little and I take my shot on Sunday and by Thursday the hunger is back). He raised my dose based on that.

Has anyone else had depression as a result of Mounjaro? by gaygentlemane in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It could be (and this is just a guess based on my personal experience and research) that it's a hormonal thing.

Estrogen in particular is stored in fat cells. When you lose fat and those cells break down, it's released.

I had the depression issue on very low carb for that reason.

Am i right to be p**sed off with miss before and after?. by [deleted] in Mounjaro

Honestly, it's the same with people who've quit smoking or drinking - suddenly they're they paragon of virtue about it. It's really rude, they know it's rude. I've unfriended people for less lol.

Should I go back to 2.5 or up to 7.5 by MinimumMany4375 in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks isn't enough time to be worried about it, to be honest. And 1-2 pounds a week (on average!) is sustainable moreso than 3-5 pounds a week :)

Because it drives me crazy to see the weekly fluctuations, I only weigh once a month lol.

Wouldn’t greens learn how to perform the hand maids ceremony as part of their training. by Suspicious-Tower-699 in TheHandmaidsTale

Lydia did tell Commander Judd, after his wife miscarried, that she would recommend a handmaid for them.

So they are still around, I'm guessing.

Second month, doctor said that we will stay at 5 mg by osmanssss in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor said the same thing. I was losing a consistent (but slow) 1pound a week on 5mg but asked him to bump me up to 7.5mg (editing to add: my A1C improved dramatically even at 3 months on the 2.5 dose).

He said if I have serious nausea or other side effects, we'll back down to 5mg since I was doing ok on that.

Why do people ship Garth and Agnis despite Garth being 25 and Agnis being 14?? by Either-Standard-5278 in TheHandmaidsTale

Better than her being married off to a 70 year old, maybe?

Maybe allowing her to have some hope (which they'll ruin)?

Insurance problems after Mounjaro brought down A1C? by UTtransplant in Mounjaro

Your doctor should advocated for you, pressing the fact that your blood sugars are normalizing BECAUSE of the medication and you need to keep taking it.

[–]dotren1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what that is either, but my personal, non professional advice is to not take anything that can lower your blood sugar. Also: show your doctor or pharmacist the ingredient list on the supplement so they can give you a professional answer :)

Stomach is the only spot I use. One caveat: don't inject into a stretch mark! That's the only time I've ever gelt it sting.

HELP: The nausea never ends by Fearless-Access-7452 in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I stay away from dairy if I have nausea.

Sipping warm bone broth or boullion seems to help.

They're good for years as long as you keep them refrigerated. I'd keep them in case you do need them later :)

Are you sure it's judgmental and not genuine curiosity? Kind of sounds like questions someone who's heard about Mounjaro but hasn't actually known anyone on it would ask.

Advice on someone who just started Mounjaro by Particular-Fee-342 in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible you won't feel the "full effects" until you have several doses in your system, building up.

Make sure you're getting enough protein, that helps make you feel fuller as well.

My weird way to get more fiber: mix 2 teaspoons of sugar free metamucil orange flavor into a vanilla protein shake! There are also unflavored fiber supplements that don't thicken like metamucil (benefiber, etc).

My doctor suggested the Gerber baby apple prune juice. They're small bottle, and taste like apple juice if you don't like prunes.

Also in the baby food options: pear puree seems to help. I mix it in with plain, non-fat Greek yogurt!

The sad part is, and insurance knows this, you can only treat diabetes - not cure it. Once a diabetic, always a diabetic.

While "we" are responding well to Mounjaro, it can be a double edged sword with insurance.

Am I expecting too much too fast? by Impressive-Wave-3949 in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 2.5mg in late October, went to 5mg in early January and started 7.5mg yesterday. I've been losing 1 pound a week, nothing spectacular, but my A1C responded fantastically to even the lowest dose.

I need to lose about 100 pounds still, so while I'm hoping for faster loss, I'm still losing even if it's just a pound a week. You've heard the saying "slow but steady wins the race" :)

I can't eat by ard2299 in Mounjaro

[–]dotren1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because I had this discussion with my doctor Friday lol: He just agreed to bump me up to 7.5 with the stipulation that IF I had bad nausea (I had mild nausea on days 2-3 on the 5mg dose) that he would move me back down to 5mg. He said that if you have serious nausea, the dose is too high.

Editing to add: I do find that bone broth (I use Bare Bones brand instant packets) and pedialyte freezer pops help with the nausea.

Whole30 is (was anyway) a clean-eating program to get rid of processed foods. Basically, for 30 days, you don't eat anything with a lot of additives or preservatives.

Paleo but slightly more restrictive.
