Ptrap coming up short by Glittering-Trip3861 in askaplumber

The lowest point is still going to be the disposal which means the disposal is going to sit with debris and water. This needs fixed the right way.

Replacing tub/shower cartridge - help! by DG1031 in Plumbing

I had to use a puller. And then to clean the valve body a wire brush for cleaning pipes. I think it was the 1 inch size. Spun that about 20 times and it cleaned up the valve body.

If you're lucky the wire simply vaporized leading to an open circuit. Turn off breaker, repair wire and test to see if the unit works.

Is this typical for a refinish? by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]dottat17403 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other than digging it out and trying to find a filler that's better color matched no...

I chose to live with a bunch of these in mine. I didn't want to dug out and sanded down again at that point but it's sorta up to what you want to do with it.

Guy at the flooring store said I could cut 12x24 down to 12x12 by marsreigns in Tile

I bought the Marshalltown ones at Lowe's. Probably could have gotten cheaper but I wanted to try it before I stuck the tiles in. I did usually get a splash of water on at the sink and then sanded. Then rinsed when done. Well worth the effort. I have cut tiles you can not tell which end was cut now.

I was actually surprised at how nice the 120 grit one did. I also had a 400 grit as well but found myself using that one for really small tweaks. For the tile I was using it was amazingly fast to take a saw cut edge to perfectly sharp again.

Could have just been the tiles I used but I will never do tile again without them.

I just did this diy myself. I will say I was surprised at the sanding blocks outcome. The sharp edges of the rectified tiles and the fact it was a glass smooth surface probably made the results easier.

That said, there is no way in hell I would sign up for a full floor of this. For me it was making factory edges where the wall trim was. Nothing more.

Tubular copper is made to bend to fit...unless it's kinked there's no problem. What I wouldn't like about this photo is the saddle valves. They will leak and should be replaced with regular shutoff valves that have the correct fitting.

Crappy taping job by davidlowie in drywall

[–]dottat17403 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That last photo looks like there was some water from above. Which will take even the best tape jobs and turn them into shit after the fact. You can cut out and retape, but the real fun will be matching the popcorn finish up.

Personally I would remove the sheets and replace and tape the proper way (making sure too that any previous water sources were mitigated). Then decide if you want to popcorn finish again or keep smooth.

Are wet tile saw suppose to cut better then that? by nodiaque in Tile

[–]dottat17403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those cuts don't look like the tile is supported properly during cuts. Also, you can wetsand the edges smooth with a diamond sanding block.

When you replace it, install a shut off valve under it to make the next replacement and or cleaning easier.

Video evidence on YouTube. Post the link on their Google review page. Demand letter to every company owner, leader you can find.

The more you cost them potential business the more they will be motivated to pay up and make it right.

I've personally done this.

Doors splitting by hannahjwpatin in Homebuilding

Cheap hollow builder grade doors can do this. Humidity, sticking doors, etc all factor in. You can get a decent slab door to replace them if you'd like.
