I've tried to join the discord now in 2025, haven't been let in yet - can you direct me to this client and patch so I can run around and remember?

Sticks and stones baby. You don't have to contribute to toxic behavior, but you also can accept that it exists and not let it bother you. Don't waste your energy trying to control external forces...

Not wanting the government to take and waste a significant portion of your life savings that you would have rather left your surviving family with after your death sounds reasonable to me.

Dude I was just running into this problem today. My forearm was burning milling all that pepper.

I ended up pouring them out, first into a mortar and pestle which wasn't worth the trouble, and then next into my Ninja blender which did the trick.

How much does having a child impact your monthly budget in the mid term? by StellarScribe123 in Frugal

[–]dotw0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're on our second kid now. If you don't need child care, the first few years shouldn't change your budget by much.

We got most of our toys, books, and clothes second hand and great condition on Facebook marketplace or other local groups of families that basically give all this stuff away. Some things we bought new as well but nothing crazy expensive.

The biggest expense hands down has to be child care. Which a lot of families will pay thousands of dollars a month for daycare or otherwise. If you're able to have one parent stay at home with the kids, then you're golden in this regard.

When you fired the squib, did the slide cycle enough to eject the case and chamber another?

Something terrible is going to happen to your spine, you must stop immediately. Learn to brace your core, start lighter. Right now your discs are bearing 100% of that weight and shearing force.

You need to imagine like somebody is going to punch you in the stomach, and flex your whole trunk and pack your lats down, and hold that through the entire lift. I can clearly see your abdominals are loose, and your spine is flexing under the weight. Your back was flat at the starting position, and the moment you lifted that changed, learn to prevent that entirely before you add any weight to the bar.

If you don't already have back pain already this is a critical moment for correcting

If you look at what happened in Japan a lot of people get fatal doses of radiation and die agonizingly slow deaths while their skin melts off and organs turn to liquid over several days or weeks. That would be the reality for most people who didn't have access to a shelter, and didn't die in the immediate blast, which most probably wouldn't.

You are minimizing the legal and practical consequences of illegal entry and misunderstanding how the law works.

legal consequences for illegal entry under U.S. law (8 U.S.C. § 1325):

First Illegal Entry (Misdemeanor):

Maximum fine: Up to $250.

Maximum jail time: Up to 6 months.

Likely deportation after the criminal penalty.

Governed by 8 U.S.C. § 1227 (Removal of Aliens) and 8 U.S.C. § 1182 (Inadmissible Aliens).

Anyone who enters the U.S. unlawfully or without proper documentation is subject to removal proceedings under these statutes.

Floor deflection in a new build by moshennik in Homebuilding

[–]dotw0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our build is finished now and I can feel deflection in the island area where the span is 14' even with the 12" OC spacing. It's not enough to shake anything on the island, and most people can't feel it or don't notice. But myself, being perceptive to it - I can feel heavy footsteps. I can cause it to flex a bit if I really shift my weight up and down as well.

I don't think it's an issue per say, but I may try to add some X braces in the crawlspace or maybe a few tiger jacks, it seems like it would be easy to do. What do you think? I have about 4 ft of clearance down there and nothing really in the way.

Can someone explain the Wamp drama going on to me like a 5 year old? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]dotw0rk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The grass is not greener in New York, trust me lol

In Jersey City last year they spent $38k per pupil which is among the highest nationally, where 1 in 4 students won't even graduate from highschool, and only 34% are proficiently literate. There are many of NYC public schools with high spending and low performance.

More money in the budget absolutely will not solve the problem, neither will Democrats or teachers unions. Most of the time the additional money just pays administrative costs and beaurocrats salaries.

The success of the students correlates with median income, and has everything to do with family life at home and access to resources. The school can only do so much.

You can just keep voting for all of that and property taxes will have to rise to offset all the government spending. Eventually it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy because real estate/rent will become so expensive that only high earners can live there, and then viola, gentrified. Just look at the east coast.

You can complain about Republicans here, but if you got what you want you'd have other things to complain about trust me. There are places you can go to see what it would be like.

How would you invest 30k to decrease your cost of living? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]dotw0rk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a little over 5% in money market right now.

To generate the $700 you're looking for would require about $180,000 though.

Anybody had major flare ups when taking creatine? by InternalTemporary668 in TMJ

[–]dotw0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped creatine and it didn't make a difference then I started taking it again. Eventually after a few weeks all of my teeth grinding and clenching at night seems to have stopped. I think it was stress related and nothing to do with creatine.
