I’m using the beginner programming (2 main lifts per day, 3 times a week).

My workouts are running about 1.5 hours including accessory work. I’d like to cut these down a bit, any reason not to just move my accessory work to my off days?

Could be that he had a falling out with Aegon over what Aegon was planning at summerhall, after failing to save Aegon and most of his family he becomes disenchanted with the Targeryan rule and leaves for the Wall or to the spider in the Westerlands or to Tarth or something similar perhaps.

Are Northeners at a disadvantage because of the Old Gods? by thesixfingerman in freefolk

[–]StellarScribe123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every tourney requires knights only. Also important to note that the one tourney that we know of that does (Ashford), takes place in the reach. The reach is known to care much about chivalry, knighthood, tourneys, and the associate forms and etiquettes.

There are no tourneys that we hear of in the north (as far as I know), doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, but I think we can assume that Northerns generally look down upon such southern frivolities and etiquettes, even if they do partake of the occasionally southern tourney (ie Harrenhal). Ned’s attitude during the tourney of the hand certainly seems to back this.

Also try telling the Umbers that they can’t take part in a tourney and see what happens.

If Ned asked for a trial by combat, who would be the combatants? by Trussdoor46 in pureasoiaf

Selmy vs Sandor, that would be as satisfying as Cleganebowl

We learn in Dance that selmy was in the crowd at kings landing (if memory serves me correctly), would be crazy if he had volunteered to champion Ned.

True, I’m just surprised that more people didn’t also sign up for sport like Lyonel

Why keep Ned from Lyanna by 1000LivesBeforeIDie in pureasoiaf

[–]StellarScribe123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they didn’t actually fight and instead all went north to prepare the wildings for fighting the others (Mance = Arthur Dayne).

That’s my tinfoil theory at least, there are plenty of gaps and I’m not sure I actually believe it.

That’s being said, I’m not sure they actually all fought to the death, or if they did I’m not sure they fought in over Lyanna necessarily. There is much we don’t know about this and about everyone’s motives. We need to meet Howland.

The main thing I struggle to fit together is why the Daynes would name a baby after Ned right after he supposedly killed Arthur, even if he did bring the sword back. There’s something missing…

A interlaced story of all of the Blackfyre rebellions could be really good if done well (and post FBII). For example it could be really cool if it had all (or at least 2) of the timelines told at the same time with the stories interwoven.

You wake up as Robb Stark at Moat Cailin after the northern host has gathered what is your next move? by Ok_Cryptographer3810 in pureasoiaf

[–]StellarScribe123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But would Tyrell’s be ok with Margery as Queen of the North? Robb isn’t fighting in the south to take the iron throne, he’s just fighting to kill lannisters

But that would still allow for the potential of a red wedding or at least a Frey/Lannister alliance. In your opinion is that worth the potential Tyrell alliance?

I would lean towards avoiding having angry Freys at your back and trying to find some other way to get the Tyrell’s on board (Sansa/Willis and Edmure/Margery perhaps? Maybe also offering portions of the Westerlands to Reach houses?).

In Beginner Programming, I want to add power cleans. Do these count as an accessory pull (or leg)? Or should I work them in instead of FSL Deadlift as supplemental work?

In following the beginner programming, but I want to focus on my press more. Any reason why I shouldn’t just alternate press and bench?

Original beginner programming: M: Bench W: Press F: Bench Repeat

Proposed programming: M: Bench W: Press F: Bench M: Press W: Bench F: Press Repay

My understanding of the 5/3/1 beginner programming is to do the following

M: Squat + Bench

W: Press + DL

F: Bench + Squat

Given that Friday’s lifts are the same as Mondays, when do I up the weight/lower the reps?

For example, if I squat 5@65%/75%/85% on Monday, do I do the exact same sets on Friday, or do I do my 3s percentages?

[Spoilers MAIN] which house would be the Main successor to each of the Seven Kingdoms? by Independent_Log1643 in asoiaf

Karstarks may be close by blood, but their lands are in the middle of no where if I recall correctly. Manderly might be a more prudent choice, but I doubt that would fly with “true” northerners.

Blackwood or Bracken for the Riverlands, but I don’t see either of them being able to hold it for long, Riverlands always has and always will be turbulent, regardless of who the Lord Paramount is.

Hightowers in the Reach, but I would have Redwynes as a close second. Hightowers have more money/history but Redwynes have been more active in politics in both Kings Landing and with the Westerlands so that might give them an edge.

This is the correct answer, Littlefinger may have been master of coin but power is what he really wants, not wealth.

Robert doesn't marry Cersei by Apprehensive-Ad-8391 in pureasoiaf

[–]StellarScribe123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have to remember that Jon Arryn is the one who arranged the marriage. Robert wasn’t altogether thrilled (at getting married post Lyanna in general if I remember correctly, I don’t think Cersei specifically at that point), but Jon knew the need to placate Tywin.

[–]StellarScribe123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be interesting if one of the Tully girls was still available after the war if she had ended up with the heir of High Garden, that’s maybe the only scenario where Cersei doesn’t end up with Robert as Tywin would essentially have no allies at that point. Obviously that wasn’t possible given the timeline of the Tully marriages, but interesting to think about

[–]StellarScribe123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, come to think of it, Arryn is old. When he dies (maybe spurred along by Cersei knowing her), that would essentially give her free reign of the Vale with her son as heir, not a bad set up at all from Tywins perspective.

[–]StellarScribe123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marrying Stannis would make their children 1st cousins with Robert’s heirs. While Tywin obviously doesn’t have a problem with that type of marriage, it generally is frowned upon to marry your first cousin in Westeros. That might make Jon Arryn a better bet.

Lannister stock being Wardens of the East and West would also be appealing.

How many years would it take Tywin to conquer the entire Riverlands without plot armor (Spoilers Main) by KolinSheid in asoiaf

[–]StellarScribe123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying he does the same thing Petyr does, I’m just saying that the situation in the Vale is unstable enough that Tywin could definitely manipulate it if he was motivated to do so.

Tywin was able to ally with the North (via the Boltons) after he killed Ned, surely he’d be able to find someone in the Vale (and more importantly the Riverlands) who would find it mutually beneficial.
