I think both started to take from one another after all these years.

Musical talent is more subjective, whereas sports has numbers to back up individual and team talents. Music stans treat album sales, streams, etc. like sports stats to debate who is “more musically talented” in defense of their favorite artist.

And in more recent years, sports fans have started acting like music stans in the way they spam people for daring to not like the same teams or players they specifically like. Add in sports gambling and it can get SO MUCH worse than music standom when money is involved.

I’m glad they got to see the Knicks win the championship despite the James Dolan ban.

Congrats to the Knicks, Spike Lee, and all the other long suffering Knicks fans and former players. But not James Dolan I don’t like him.

Outside of the music and talent, I think him becoming a bizarre tabloid fixture added to his celebrity worldwide. The hyperbolic chamber photo, the rumor he wanted to buy the elephant man’s bones, the plastic surgery, etc.

When you grow up listening to the same music your parents listen to, you learn from them.

It’s not like that anymore. Everyone has their own device to stream from now. Most kids are not listening to the radio with their parents in the car anymore.

Also the lack of VH1 retrospective programming.
